When male prisoners intentionally expose themselves to females

Hello, I have been working in a medium security state prison for the past month. So far, I love correctional nursing. However, I was very recently assigned to a section of severely mentally ill prisoners where they do MANY inappropriate things. I knew this would happen, and it's not the last time, but a prisoner in segregation began to masturbate when I approached his cell door to give him his meds. I acted as if nothing happened, but still wrote him a misconduct. I also wasn't shocked or traumatized by the incident, but it's also not my favorite part of the job. What are some witty comments that you female nurses make to male prisoners who intentionally expose themselves or masturbate? I will say "is that it?"to someone who exposes himself. Any other ideas?

If nothing else, we hit our body alarm....brings everyone running, embarasses the *** out of the inmate....won't happen again. Plus, he gets a shot.

Wow, I am so sorry you are needing to resort to posting in a thread on AN looking for help. You must be having a heck of a hard time getting those positions filled!  Who knows, maybe you'll get lucky and find some staff this way, I guess it's worth a shot anyway. Good luck!!

Just ignore them...do not even look. Pretend not to care. They are looking for a reaction, any reaction will do. They want attention, so refuse to give them any. This is not about sex or desire, it's a pathetic gimmick to get your intimate attention.

Do not make witty, sarcastic, funny, or nasty comments, or any comments. Why shame them with your replies? It is only hurtful and useless, even if you are shocked. Act blaise...look bored. The same is true if a female exposed herself. Perhaps you could toss them a towel.
