When should I apply to nursing school

Published

I can finish all of the pre-reqs in only a year so I was wondering if I should apply for fall 2017 or wait until I finish the pre-reqs and then apply/take the year off? Also I've been in undergrad for a year already I just didn't take pre-reqs cause I wasn't sure what I wanted to do with my life, so I want to get into nursing as soon as I can :)

Usually you can apply to a nursing program as long as by the time of admission you will have completed the required courses. If you want to get into nursing school as soon as possible then I would do that. If you have no rush, then wait.

Did you also already take the required entrance exam that your program requires? If you already successfully passed that too then you can apply.

You'll have to ask the program you are interested in. Some require all pre reqs finished. Some allow certain ones to still be in progress.

This. Some schools are fine with a few pre reqs not completed yet but all the schools I've looked at require you to have completed 2 of your 3 science classes already. Plus preference is given to applicants who have already completed their classes. Other schools will have their own rules.

My back up school I'll be applying to requires me to take a chemistry class. My 16 chemistry credits from my first degree don't count because I graduated 12 years ago. So when I send in my application to them I'll be signed up for the last chemistry session in the Spring and only take/complete the class if I don't get into my first choice school. All my other classes will be completed by the time applications are due.
