Get pregnant tonight and report back to us!
I had my kids after I was a nurse, but I did go to school with pregnant students and they did fine. There is no perfect time. Or, ANYTIME is the perfect time.
Congrats with school, but you did say "might", yes? I would go for it. But that's just me, a person you do not know on a message board.
My personal experience. My son is 5 and we weren't getting any younger so we decided to plan for our second child in the last year of nursing school. Got pregnant in September so baby would be due in early June (graduation in May). Everything has been great so far. Only downside is you will be applying for jobs noticeably pregnant which has proven to be a definite stressor and burden for me. I didn't get a job that I was fully qualified for and had spent over $600 to interview for (was out of state) and the only thing I could pin it to was the pregnancy. In any case, I felt it would work out the best with during maternity leave before I started my new job while studying to take NCLEX and putting my baby in daycare at the 6 week mark post partum to start my new nursing job. Good luck!
I have a question for the nurses out there. Did you get pregnant before nursing school, during, or after? I am not that young, my biological clock is ticking, but I might be starting nursing school this Fall or next Fall (haven't heard from the school yet, hopefully soon). What do you think? Should I wait another 2 years? Or maybe get pregnant on my second year?
I would appreciate any response.
If children are important to you, I'd advise starting sooner rather than later. So many people seem to think they can "get pregnant on Wednesday" or "have a baby in October", but it doesn't always work out that way. I decided to get pregnant about five years ago and my baby is only 9 weeks old. He was a very expensive, very high-tech baby and he might not have existed- at all.
I don't know your exact age, but I do know that you're in better shape (biologically) for baby-making today than you will be tomorrow. Now if you're flat broke and an emotional wreck, those things have to be considered too, of course...
Nursing school is about 4 years.
Children are about 18 years.
Would you rather wait 4yrs to have children, 18yrs to start nursing school, or combine the two somewhere between q2 hour feedings, and daily errands, trips to music lessons, soccer practice, and working around whatever employment situation that you are in at the time?
