I have a question for the nurses out there. Did you get pregnant before nursing school, during, or after? I am not that young, my biological clock is ticking, but I might be starting nursing school this Fall or next Fall (haven't heard from the school yet, hopefully soon).
What do you think? Should I wait another 2 years? Or maybe get pregnant on my second year?
I would appreciate any response.
I was pregnant throughout my freshman year of college (for my first, super easy non-nursing degree) and it was a nightmare. My pregnancy was pretty easy as far as pregnancies go, but it was just so much to deal with. You're tired, your body doesn't work the way you're used to, you'll randomly be in pain, nauseous, etc. You have increasingly frequent visits to the doctor, and at the end you're constantly on edge because your body is a ticking time bomb waiting for contractions to start. I would not recommend being pregnant in school... at all. Don't even get me started on the living torture that is caring for a newborn!
My personal experience. My son is 5 and we weren't getting any younger so we decided to plan for our second child in the last year of nursing school. Got pregnant in September so baby would be due in early June (graduation in May). Everything has been great so far. Only downside is you will be applying for jobs noticeably pregnant which has proven to be a definite stressor and burden for me. I didn't get a job that I was fully qualified for and had spent over $600 to interview for (was out of state) and the only thing I could pin it to was the pregnancy. In any case, I felt it would work out the best with during maternity leave before I started my new job while studying to take NCLEX and putting my baby in daycare at the 6 week mark post partum to start my new nursing job. Good luck!
Wow you are so organized. True super woman and mum. Hugs.
Well, reading all of this sure makes me glad that I am 26 and done with the agony of nursing school and trying to pass NCLEX! I have been dating my current guy since I was in my second semester of nursing school and he was going for his IT degree and we graduated at the same time, neither of us are ready for kids, but we both think we will be one day. Not sure how or when that would be with my nursing career, also not sure how any of you do it all! Much braver women than I am.

I'm not in nursing school yet, but I'm getting ready to apply and I'm currently 13 weeks pregnant. This has been one hard semester for me because I've been so sick and so incredibly tired. I just keep telling myself, thank god I'm not in nursing school yet. I don't know how it would be possible for me. But, I also have a 3 yr old and a 1 yr old.
