Nurses Announcements Archive

In the Fall 2004 semester, I failed my hospital clinical site and recieved a failing grade. I was in the first semester. In the Spring 2005 semester, I went to a new nursing school hoping for a fresh start. In the past 2 weeks I did extremly well in my theory exams. I am one of the top 3 students in grades BUT in my lab check offs, I am behind too much and I am just too far gone to catch up.:crying2: :crying2: :crying2: :crying2: :crying2: :crying2: Instructors are looking at me as incompetent/weeding me out. It is common for them to do that and it hurts me to see that. :crying2: :crying2:

I know that you are thinking, I am just a failing student and I am a casuality but you know failing students do try to be a nurse but it just does not happen for some reason...In the Fall 2004 semester, I gave it my best vert best effort and still failed...This semester, I tried also but things did not work out right..

Good bye all..:crying2: :crying2: :crying2: :crying2: :crying2: :crying2: :crying2: And when you seeing missing students in your class, think well of them because some of them gave it their best effort like me but it just did not work out..:crying2: :crying2:

Theory is theory but clinical skills are what are needed in daily work as a nurse to care for patients, aid in their recovery and save lives.

Not everyone is cut out for nursing (or computer programming or any specific field for that matter). Maybe it is time to meet with a career counselor to evaluate your interest and ability to function under pressure so you can find a field that incorporates your interests and allows you to be happy.

Best of luck to you.

Nursing is not for everyone. Sad, first thing I would do is change that name. You will never find success in anything you do if you identify with the victim role. Let this day be an end to failure, and a beginning of success. Sad, meet Glad. Fake it till you make it.

Yes, like someone else has already stated, if you had difficulty with two programs then you have to stop and ask yourself what are you doing wrong. I am a strong believer that instructors do not weed students out of a program, but students weed themselves out of a program. When such things happen the only way to move on is to honestly re-evaluate the situation and determine what lead you to this point.

If you did well in theory, then maybe take this time to get tutoring in your weak areas and then proceed with your nursing education.

Good luck

Thats a very sad story. I am sorry it does not appear that things are working out for you. But like in all things in life. You must make the final decision. Just because instructors have their say doesn't mean you can't have yours. If you think you can do it, do it. Keep going and try again. You seem to care a lot about it and I think that is commendable.

So I would say, take a break, relax. Take a look at what you want and set a goal, even if its a small one and go for it. Good luck!

In response to the OP, I hope and pray the best for you. Hey HAPPYSTUDENT if you are reading this by chance. I would say that being happy with yourself leaves no room for becoming the "victim". We all have had to climb some steep hills to get anything or everything we wanted. Just keep climbing, but for me, I say " MOVE MOUNTAIN GET ON OUT OF MY WAY" in the NAME OF JESUS... Bless you... take care.

perhaps nursing is not for you? Maybe something else in the healthcare field would work? You probably have more than enough prereqs for most programs so look into other areas, such as dental hygiene, respiratory therapy, radiology tech, etc.. or perhaps you can take a break, or maybe health administration is for you. Good luck and get some counseling for yourself. You are always so down on yourself in your posts and you need to talk to a professional about your outlook, it can't be healthy for you to sounds so depressed so often.
