Nursing is a profession that often involves long lonely night shifts in eerie hospital wards. It's a perfect breeding ground for ghost stories. These stories often involve sightings of apparitions, strange noises, and unexplained events that are said to have taken place in hospitals, hospices, and other healthcare settings. Some of these stories are believed to be based on true events, while others are purely fictional. Regardless, they continue to captivate and intrigue both nurses and non-nurses alike - providing a spooky glimpse into the world of healthcare after dark.

I was working in the nicu when we had a threat of a tornado. Some Nurses got pulled to go to a sister hospital in town to assist in the disaster plan. When all was over one of the nurses returned with this story: She was assissting the nurses in giving some meds before pulling all into the hallways. Every pt she went to said they already had their meds from that nice nurse in the white uniform and hat. She realized after she left that its been awhile since a nurse has worn a hat. That story revealed the urban ledgen of Nurse Betty. Story goes she had an affair with a married md, became pregnant then agreed to allow him to perform an abortion on her on the 2nd floor OR room. She died and he went to jail. She never left the hospital and was seen frequently. The local newspaper would do an article of her every year around halloween on her sightings. The hospital has since been replaced with college dorms. Hmmmm i wonder if any students have seen her?[/QUO

Wow, a ghost that can physically give meds, that's pretty good!

Hey, do you think you can send her my way to pass some of my meds??? :)

If I was witness to that I wouldn't be alive now. I would have literally $h*t myself to death. My sphincter blown right out my behind, giving one last merry toot as it blew in the wind.

That has to be the scariest story I have ever heard.

If you and your sphincter came back to haunt us, that would be something else we could include in this thread.

Death Angel...

Working nights in LTC you hear stories ~ I heard about the "Death Angel" when I worked out West...

I worked 7p-7a in a LTC and the RN on the other side of the building told me about her.

A misty feminine figure could be seen coming down the hallway. When it would go into a resident's room, they knew that the resident wasn't long for this world.

Kindly Old Man...

Also found out about "The Old Man" who visited frequently. He was a nice old man with white hair, always wore beige slacks. He could be seen on either side of the building but always ended his "visits" by going into the Chapel...

I am not a nurse yet, I'm currently waiting on an opening for NS but I've had several 'strange' experiences myself.

First one- I'm Catholic and was going through CCD in the 8th grade when we all went to the church to give our first confessions. I went into the confessional and was waiting for the priest when I heard what I thought was a big moth flapping around. I listened intently trying to figure out where it was. The more I listened the louder it got until I believed it was a small bird or something stuck in the confessional. During this, the priest had taken his spot and we were going through the confession. The whole time I'm thinking 'isn't the priest hearing this' it was pretty loud. The next week we went back to church and my CCD leader was speaking to the priest. I went over and asked them if there had been a bird stuck in the confessional the week before or what may have happened. They both looked at me sort of weird and when I described what I had heard they looked at each other and the priest said 'no, there wasn't a bird or anything stuck in there, but it's said that when the Holy Ghost comes to visit, it comes on the sound of wings.'

Another story- I went to visit my sister Lori in San Fransisco about 10 years ago. She was just engaged to her dh and when I got there I found out my other sister Sarah was also going to be there with her new boyfriend. We were all sitting around the living room eating when I got this overwhelming deja vu type feeling. I just KNEW someone was pregnant. I went into the kitchen and asked my sister Lori and my mom if SArah was pregnant. They looked at me sort of weird because SArah had JUST started dating her new boyfriend, but I just said I have this overwhelming feeling that Sarah is pregnant, or at least someone in this room is. A week later Sarah told us that she was pregnant and had just found out the day we saw each other in San Francisco.

Also, in my family and among my close friends I have been able to tell them what sex their baby will be. I've been correct 8 out of 9 times and only incorrect when my sister was pg with her second baby and I told her her third would be a girl (turned out to be a boy). But my sil- I told her she would have a little girl with curly red hair. Both her children were blond, and she and her husband had light brown hair. Sure enough, they have a fiery, curly headed little girl.

When that Susan Smith(?) girl drowned her two boys years ago, I saw her on TV, looked at my dh and said, she did it. A couple of days later I had a 'vision' of a car going into a lake and told my dh and a couple of friends that the cops should look in a lake in the area.

TG I've never seen a ghost, that would scare the begeezus out of me. I did tell my aunt after my gma had passed that I beleive people stop by and say goodbye before going on. She called me a couple of days later and said that although she hadn't believed me when I told her that, that night as she was lying in bed she felt someone sit on the bed beside her, and knew that her mother had stopped by to say goodbye.

I get chills reading all these stories, but I love them. I lost a baby almost three years ago and my daughter yelled up at God 'God, give my mommy another baby girl in her tummy', she was 3yo at the time and I found out I was pg again the next month, with a baby girl.

I worked in ltc for years, lot's of dying going on.

2 warning signs:

1. the facility cat starts favoring a certain resident, sleeps on their bed or chair, seeks them out.

2. the resident sarts calling "mother, mother"

The weirdest thing that has ever happened to me in the hospital was about 22 years ago. We had just passed out all the dinner trays and we had gotton KFC . I told the other LVN and CNA's to go ahead and eat their chicken and I would watch the call lights. I was at the nursing station when a woman who was a patient walked up to me and said ," My roommate is choking.I asked her what room and she replied "Room 211B". I know I probably rolled my eyes at her because people always came up tell us that someone was choking and they really weren't. I started walking down the long hall thinking to myself " this woman is not choking, I'll walk real fast" then I thought to myself what if she is choking , I'd better run.then I thought this woman is not choking I'll wallk fast. and then I thought she might be choking I'd better run. Well when I got halfway down the hall I heard (and I don't heard voices) a man say "RUN"! His voice was loud and kind of vibrating but it didn't hurt my ears. I didn't even contemplate or question him. It was definitly a man's voice. If it was my own mind talking to myself I would hear my own voice.Anyways as I walked in the room I saw this little old lady and I asked her can you speak and she shook her head NO. So I got behind her in the bed and pushed her body a little forward so I could give her the hemlich. Being old she was a little stiff. So I then gave her one hemlich thurst. nothing happened, then all of a sudden it seemed like everything went in slow motion and I could see that her earlobe was cyanotic, a shade of light purple. I then gave her another abd. thurst and out flew a piece of meat. She was OK but we sent her to CCU overnight because she had some EKG changes. She came back to us the next day. To me it was not scary at all, if anything it was comforting. I don't know who it was but I believe it was a guardian angel. or Jesus or God. Whoever he was he told me to run and if I had been a few seconds late this little old lady would probably have died.

I also had a patient die in room 210B. A lot of the rooms were empty down at the other end of this hall. We had already cleaned her up , just waiting for the morturary to come and pick up her body and the other bed in the room was empty. I was at the nursing station when a call light went on. Guess who's light it was? It was the little old lady that just expired light's. I felt oh my god someone come down there with me and see what's going on down there. Another nurse went with me and sure enough the light was on and the lady was still expired. I turned off the light . I don't know who did it maybe the same guy that told me to RUN with the choking lady.

One of my coworkers told me whe was working at this really old hospital and had a patient in a back room on a vent and she was sitting nearby and thought she seen something in the corner of her eye. Then her patient's alarms on the vent starting going off like crazy. She said she went to his bedside and he had this very frightened look on his face and was shaking and freaking out. Since he was intubated. she gave him the notepad that he had and he wrote that a man that looked like a black shadow was hovering over his bed and was trying to get him. She said it was really creepy because she also said that she thought she saw something in the corner of her eye but didn't really see anything or anybody. I think that the patient did expired the next day.

Being new at this hospital, one evening I was pulled to help out on another floor. Everything was real quiet, patients asleep and we were doing our charting, I heard the phone ring in a patient's room. Not being very familiar with the floor, I finally found it in an empty room. As soon as I answered it whoever was ringing hung up. I mentioned it to another nurse and found out that the phone rings every night at 10:30PM and all the hospital phones to patient's rooms are cut off from outside calls at 10:00PM!!

I love all of these stories. I have to think of some of my own to tell.

Do tell! I love them, too.

Hi,

My friend told me when she was delivering her son she went into cardiac arrest and was hovering over her body and saw her grandmom and was told to go back, cause it was not her time yet. While she was hovering over her body she saw the medical staff doing cpr and one of the med students was so upset he threw up on the floor. After she was back in her body she asked the student how he felt, and everyone was freaked out that she knew he got sick since she was in cardiac arrest when it happen.

This is a question I asked of a medium, Kelly Musulin

-----------

Q: Why are some souls seem to be stuck here earth bound? Even children?

Why doesnt God, send someone for them?

A:

I was told a long time ago by the other side that I would be ostracized by my peers because of my beliefs.

Many people will say different if they read that statement, but I know what I was told and many things I was told have come to pass thus far.

I usually keep my views to myself because of this, but realize the time is coming where my point of view is going to be heard. I'm not much for confrontations and surely do not want to debate my beliefs because I feel we all have the right to believe what we want.

I don't see God as I once had when I was younger, a separate being, a king sitting on a throne judging me for the wrong I've done in my life. God is you and God is me, the plants, the sky, the dirt, the insects, the air, God is all, God or what ever you choose to call your higher power just is and we are all a part of this, separate but a part of, with free will.

I don't believe in earthbounds in the sense that there is no one to come for us, no one to guide us, we're just left in limbo to roam the earth or somewhere in between, how sad would that be!

Let's say you are God, or the belief of what most call their higher power. When I leave this world to go home, would you not allow my family to greet me? Would you not send anyone for me to show me the way? Would I have to walk around in a place I am familiar with, but no one can see me and no one talks to me. How frightening is that?

I believe the souls know they are crossed and have the choice to come and go as they please and personally I think some of them shake their heads because we don't get it!

Hell, I don't get it and I won't until I'm there and even then I don't believe it stops once were are on the other side, it's a continuing progression of learning about our Godself.

Blessings,

Kelly Musulin
