What's the weirdest baby name?

Specialties Ob/Gyn Nursing Q/A

Hi, I was wondering about some of those weird names that you've probably encountered in L&D and PP. I remember when I had my maternity rotation a couple of weeks ago, one of the nurses said she remembers a patient that named her child Placenta. I couldn't believe it that some child has to live his life named after disgusting afterbirth!

I just ask because I know a Mike Hunt and also worked at a law office and called back to the lawyer to announce Mike was there for his appt and it sounded, well, you know-I was sooooooooo embarassed!

Specializes in LDRP, OR, well NB.

Oh Jen...that's bad. The worst I ever had was a patient's husband who wanted to name the baby Chezzaretta. It sisn't happen. The worst I ever heard about was Elohssa.....a**hole backwards. A friend of mine told me about that one from a place she once worked.... what were these people thinking!!

Specializes in Pediatrics.

Went to my scholarship awards and on the program was Snowie Day, a girl

One of my best guy friends in college had a girlfriend named Ophelia Dick. Her sister was Tabitha, and got about as much teasing (kids would call her To Bite The Dick). Personally, I'd have changed my name in either case.

Specializes in L & D.

I just started as a new grad on a L&D floor; a baby the other day was named Ziggy. Not too unusual, but so far that is the oddest one I've heard. I'm sure I'll hear many more unusual ones as the years go by!

I knew a woman who named her kids tequlia rose and jim beam.

these were two great grandchildren that came to visit the woman i was taking care of on a med/surg floor, baustin (boy) and celeberity (girl).

Specializes in surgical, emergency.

I've noticed increasingly over the years, normal sounding names, but spelled in a phoneticly, strange way,,,,sorry, nothing is coming to mind, but I bet you've all seen 'em.

I work in OR, and our anes. docs cover epidurals. One anes. doc came back from childbirth center shaking his head the other day.

The mother he just put an epidural in, said she was having a boy, and already had the name.....Sincere (sin-seer).......you guessed it....middle name LEE!!!

I guess she has a girl at home...Deja.....drum roll....middle name..Vu !!!!!

These people need to be drug out back, beat, and then shot!!!!

Don't they realize the pain, and suffering these kids will likely endure.

As parents we all want out kids to stand out, be something special, BUT kids,,,,,they want to be a part of the crowd!!! Not be apart like that!

Mike
