What's the weirdest baby name?

Specialties Ob/Gyn Nursing Q/A

Hi, I was wondering about some of those weird names that you've probably encountered in L&D and PP. I remember when I had my maternity rotation a couple of weeks ago, one of the nurses said she remembers a patient that named her child Placenta. I couldn't believe it that some child has to live his life named after disgusting afterbirth!

How bout Mackenzie?

I love Mackenzie, unfortunately my husband doesn't. :zzzzz

And on this subject, I forgot to say, my husband hung out in high school with a girl named Anita Dick, I kid you not. What were those parents thinking (or were they just not?)

I have a Mason(boy), Madison(boy), and Makenzie(girl). If I had another girl(which I'm not) I like Maegan(spelling is weird, but I have all Ma's going) I also like Mallory but one baby book I read said it meant "bad omen":smackingf There is also Madeline (Maddie), Macy(I have a neice named Macy Kate and her 3 year old brother calls her Messy Cake...too cute!) and Mollie. All cute and not overly popular(around here at least)

In my part of town the powers that be will refuse a couple the right to name their baby an odd name.

Ivory has been refused. This could be good but it also is bad practice.

Was at my daughters awards ceremony for the 1st grade the other day, and could not believe what they named that boy. I even said out loud to my friend sitting beside me "Oh, no they didn't" :smackingfthen she replied "His mother is on the other side of you." :imbar OOPS!

His name was

Will Do

Mind you they have normal nick names, but a friend of the family named her children Nation, Allegiance and Justice and they go by Nate, Allie and Jesse.

Just this week I met a patient who named her baby boy Jermany Dragon (middle name). He was lucky, he only had two names, while his siblings have four names!!

If some "power that be" tried to tell me what I could or could not name my baby, there would be big trouble. That is not legal!!!!

In the community where I used to live, there was an older lady named Baby Girl. The story goes, her mom saw it on her first birth certificate and thought they had already named her so she never changed it.

Years ago I had a set of twins named Mercedes and Porsche. (girls)

Also a girl named Syphillis pronounced sih PHYLLIS

i had a patient name her baby boy "shithead" ...but pronounced with the th making the "th" sound! how awful!!!

I had a pt. a month or so ago who named her son Messiah. (I wanted to ask her if she knew the name was taken!!)

Specializes in Pediatric PACU.

Mister (first name) Jones (last name)

Princess (first name) Leia (middle name)

I am sure there are many more that I can't think of right now :)

The guy that grew up across the street from me, had a child a few years back. I ran into him a couple of christmases ago when I went home to visit my parents and was introduced to his son Rockey (first name) Rhodes ( last name). Very hard to get past that on the spot and not laugh at him. The baby is gorgeous, and the guy was one of the hottest things at school during the day, and his wife is gorgeous as well...so there is hope for this kid
