What's the weirdest baby name?

Specialties Ob/Gyn Nursing Q/A

Hi, I was wondering about some of those weird names that you've probably encountered in L&D and PP. I remember when I had my maternity rotation a couple of weeks ago, one of the nurses said she remembers a patient that named her child Placenta. I couldn't believe it that some child has to live his life named after disgusting afterbirth!

Before changing careers to nursing, I did 30 years of policework and I came across a number of...unique... names. When my daughter was born, there was a newborn in the hospital who was named Saudi Kuwait (yes, this was at the time of the first Gulf War). On the street I ran across a male teen who's first name was Mister, and at one time I dealt with a female named Female (pronounced Fem-ah-lee).

My friend said that after Lord of the Rings came out she got a lot of kids named Elrond and Frodo and such... can you imagine doing that to a kid? Frodo is cute for a baby, not so cute looking on a resume when the kid is 20...

There is a girl named "Princess" in my class, I do not think that I could ever use that name seriously.

Here's one for the list:

Na' ladge Amor de King

First name is pronounced "knowledge" and is because he is smart. Middle name is because everyone loves the King (not sure which king).

I should have named my child this, after all my last name is Wise!:D

Have had a pt named Blondina! I have seen brothers names nahlege & wysdome (pronounced knowledge & wisdom...found it kinda funny they spelled words wrong that had to do with being smart) Also I know a little girl named Pixie.

Also though not really weird or funny but I had a baby in NICU with the last name "christmas" who was born christmas day! and no they didnt change her name or anything like that. Pure luck!

I once heard of a mom who named her child Nosmoking.....said it was the last thing she saw before her c/s. I also had a teen mom who named her child Margarita......(sad). I learned from many years working with new parents how to keep a straight face.

That's actually common name in some countries!

"Abcde" pronounce Ab-C-D from a teen couple.

La-a Love "LaDASHa Love" literally spelled with the dash!

Knowledge to the World King

Met a little girl named Ruby and her Mom told me her full first name was Rubella. After the initial shock wore off, I found out the daughter was named after her grandmothers (Ruby and Ella). I would say that is an awful name.
