Hi, I was wondering about some of those weird names that you've probably encountered in L&D and PP. I remember when I had my maternity rotation a couple of weeks ago, one of the nurses said she remembers a patient that named her child Placenta. I couldn't believe it that some child has to live his life named after disgusting afterbirth!
Although, technically, Al Pacino is an actor.... though he has played gangsters.
Whoops! You are right...Al Pacino is an ACTOR why played the part of gangster!!!!
Nevertheless, I still want to know what his mother was thinking!
I actually had a patient who named her precious newborn girl "Abcde"!! It's pronounced Ab-cee-dee! Then there was the teenage couple that named their first one "Motley Crue" , who was followed by a little brother 2 years later by the name of "Nicky Sixx"! By the time this couple had their 3rd child, I guess common sense and a few years of maturity had set in because this one was simply "Joesph"!
I spend my summer vacation working as a nurse at a summer camp, and we had a child come through with the name True Love. Love being her last name... I'm sorry but at first glance I thought it was the title to a cheesy 80s song..
...or the title of a confessions magazine, maybe??

That reminded me of a girl I knew of named TrueLove Sledge.
Some of these names are just unbelievable. Are these real or for fun? lol
My husband plays bluegrass music and wants to name our first daughter Amanda Lynn - after the music instrument... a mandolin. Not gonna happen :)

Kind of clever, actually. It's a nice name by itself that wouldn't raise an eyebrow. Until you add in the context.
You could do worse. He could have suggested Hammered Dulcimer.
I knew a girl in high school and her name was Cali Phornia.

It's a nice name. :) I don't think anyone will get the association because at least he doesn't insist on some goofy spelling. It could be one of your family's special memories, especially if he or another relative plays the mandolin.
Of course, if he means to noise the meaning around to everyone - not so cool.

Now, that would raise some eyebrows and invite unwanted comments! "Are you hammered today, or merely dulcet?"
I do love dulcimers!
