What's the weirdest baby name?

Specialties Ob/Gyn Nursing Q/A

Hi, I was wondering about some of those weird names that you've probably encountered in L&D and PP. I remember when I had my maternity rotation a couple of weeks ago, one of the nurses said she remembers a patient that named her child Placenta. I couldn't believe it that some child has to live his life named after disgusting afterbirth!

I was just watching Judge Pirro on TV and the defendant's name is Divinegod .... well, that he is NOT ... LMAO! :D

Does anyone know was Salvia is? It's a legal drug. My friend gave her daughter the middle name Salvia. That's like naming your kid Cocaine. Honestly. (At least a lot of people have never heard of it, though.)

When I saw that, I thought "That's an herb." I looked it up and it is indeed an herb (sage belongs to the same family) in addition to whatever drug it is. "Sage" might have been a better choice?

I went to high school with a guy named Mike Hunt (one either has to have seen the movie "Porky's" or say the name out loud to get it).

My cousin claimed to have a classmate named Jack Hoff.

When I was in nursing school on of the rotations throught the OB department one of the mothers named her child Candida.

Can-di-da is the infection.

Can-DEE-da is a very common Hispanic name, and also the title of a Tony Orlando song.

Had a pt a few weeks ago name her baby STARFIRE ROSE, we all thought it sounded more like a horse's name

I have worked in the nursery for most of my nursing career, but this one woman I shall never forget her for naming her baby this name, it is meant to be said

"AH-SHO-LIE" but instead of spelling it "Asholey" or some other derivative, she spelled it Assh*le with an accent on the e at the end. Of course some people were cracking jokes that she named the baby after its father, but who knows, what in the world are people thinking naming their child that? I just pity the poor child's teachers, etc, who are not going to know how to pronounce this name, oh geez, all I can say is Poor Kid!

There was a mom who recently named her kid "Prince Michael" does it ever stop?

I remember going to school with a girl named Passion, a girl named Patches, and a girl named Kissy, which I like, but is still different.

With the frequency in which people say that word you would think everyone knows how to spell it. Some people never cease to amaze me! :D

I certainly hope these poor kids have the good sense to legally change their names as soon as they are able!
