What's the weirdest baby name?

Specialties Ob/Gyn Nursing Q/A

Hi, I was wondering about some of those weird names that you've probably encountered in L&D and PP. I remember when I had my maternity rotation a couple of weeks ago, one of the nurses said she remembers a patient that named her child Placenta. I couldn't believe it that some child has to live his life named after disgusting afterbirth!

We had several in the small, rural Southern town where I lived. We had one baby who was named Oranjelo (orange jello). One baby named Formica, and finally, one baby whose mother could not get the baby's daddy to come and sign his name on the birth certificate (teenage dramady), who sent her baby's birth certificate in with the name 'baby boy Dixon'. I kid you not. This baby kept the name, Baby Boy Dixon. He is about 27 or 28 years old today, and has never changed his name from Baby Boy. This does not sound true, but it is, I promise....

My cousin named her daughter English.

Ooooo! A fresh new one!! Haven't heard this one before. A couple names their child Yahoo! in celebration of meeting over the Internet. Just to give it away, like all the Lemonjellos, Orangellos, Females, Nosmo Kings out there, it's another urband legend name. Don't mean to spoil the fun, but I just wanted to nip this one in the bud as it's assured it will show up here eventually...

About 40 years ago there was a politician (either state or local or maybe both, I don't remember) in my state whose name was Jack Ripper.:uhoh3:

I once knew a guy named Garnet. Different, but cool!

Believe it or not, I have a relative named that! The really funny thing is that when I was little, I misheard the name and called him "Cheese!" :lol2:

Too cute! Reminds me that my little brother used to call his uncle Scott... "uncle Sock!"

I've heard a "Ripper"

Tim "Ripper" Owens has been the lead singer for Judas Priest since Rob Halford left. I'm not a JP fan or anything but I currently have "Heavy Metal Parking Lot" on loan from Netflix.

I heard recently about a little boy named Ozzy. Not John Michael, which is Mr. Osbourne's given name, but OZZY.

Well, I think they called her "Vageena". However, they spelled it "lady parts"
