What's the weirdest baby name?

Specialties Ob/Gyn Nursing Q/A

Hi, I was wondering about some of those weird names that you've probably encountered in L&D and PP. I remember when I had my maternity rotation a couple of weeks ago, one of the nurses said she remembers a patient that named her child Placenta. I couldn't believe it that some child has to live his life named after disgusting afterbirth!

And here we thought the Duggar family invented the concept of a uterus as a clown car! :eek:

My parents were friends with a couple that named their son Taka Toke for his first and middle name. They wanted to legalize marijuana. Go fiqure.

I highly doubt these are more than an urban myth they've been repeated so often but you never know. So I think the new rule should be unless you have seen this WITH YOUR VERY OWN EYES BECAUSE YOU WORK IN OB and actually took care of a child (and I mean hands on care) with one of these monikers please refrain from perpetuating the story. Carry on!

You forgot Shithead (Sha-theed), that one gets mentioned pretty often too.

My favorite was a boy, whose parents were stock brokers.. "Trayden Cash". It still makes me giggle.

Good Lord! Some people's parents!

Maybe she shoulda named the kid 'Hemabate'.

I wanted to name my son Ridley(it was my Grandpa Riddlehoover's nickname and he passed away while I was pregnant), unfortunately my son's last name is Scott and of course the only other Ridley I know of is director Ridley Scott. So I made Ridley his middle name and made Orion his first name.

I was actually surprised to see "Orion" listed on here quite a few times! I think it's a beautiful name and I figure he can always go by Rion(Ryan) if he wants when he gets older. My mom's afraid he'll be teased about "having a constellation on his face" if he turns out to be as freckled as his father:)

To add to the unusual names, I've heard about a set of brothers in the area named Truly, Sincerely, and Nozzle!

A lady let the resident that assisted in her delivering her twins pick the names - Gnorrhea and Syphyllis

my husband volunteers in the summer with a ym enrichment program for kids ages 7 - 12. one boy is named "spencer" and nicknamed "spenny."

what makes that so funny (at least to us) is that we rescued two cats whose names were spenny and kenny! our vet said those names were so close that a mistake was just waiting to happen. sooo...

we began calling spenny "spencer" sometimes.

strange!:eek::D:uhoh3:
