Just curious- how long do u think is too long? Given the job market, what is the longest you would drive??

Living in the San Diego area and about to start a position that is 125 miles away.....1hr 45min. drive. I will see how its goes and see if its more cost effective to stay the 3-12's in the area....well see! Landing a job in the SD area is few and far between....had to take it to get my career going. I hope the time and sacrifice I put in will pay off and I can get closer to home.

I live in a largely rural state; 1 hour is the max for me.

Thanks for all the responses! I need a job and have an interview about 65 miles away on Friday- not ideal but doable. Thanks again!!!

30 Min one way...

I've travelled nearly 2 hours each way, so roughly 3.5 hours plus working 8 or 10 hours. Exhausting between late and early shifts. And forget about sleeping.

I know people who live in our small town, and who fly in and out every weekend to the cities to work. It's the only way they can keep their country life and have a job. It's a 45 min flight to the nearest large city from out town.

Whoa, many of you are lucky to live so close to your work. I drive 1-1.2 hours to work now. I am about to accept an agency assignment 1.5 hours away (but easier drive) because I am so disgusted with things currently. BEFORE my children, I drove to my very first job 2 hours one way in the morning and an hour at night. I've tried all my local gigs and the unreliable, poopy salaries have gotten us thousands in debt. So I commute again.

An hour. no more than that, though.
