  1. Even if I got a DNP, I would never refer to myself as Doctor to a patient. Scope of practice babble, autonomy babble, all this nursing babble talk does not make us physicians. I have met some a-hole doctors but still have respect for most people who got in and finished med school.
  2. If your concern is salary, don't go into oncology, go become a botox injector.
  3. I guess there isn't much the school could to do create more diversity in the classroom. Three years surrounded by a class that is 85% upper class white females who have had everything handed to them by mommy and daddy is not that enlightening.
  4. Thanks everyone. Still looking. Hadn't thought about occ. health. will research.
  5. I don't know if this has been mentioned but you can get your fingerprints done and send them into the FBI to see what shows up on your fbi records (if anything). Also were you a juvenille when it happenned, the records might be sealed,. SOme staes, I've heard, make people jump through hoops id they have a past. Good luck!
  6. I have been looking for 7 months for an NP job (certified as Adult) in the Boston area and I am getting frustrated, feeling down on myself, and at times demotivated. I haven't seriously considered relocating but realize that I need to do that. I don't have a lot of funds to travel and apply for other state licenses especially if its horrible market in other states. I guess my questions are 1)Am I alone in this plight. 2) Where are the jobs?? 3) Has anyone been able to relocate without spending a fortune? Thanks for any advice!!
  7. I am not an NP in Vermont, but I can tell you it is a beautiful state! People are relaxed (at least compared to Massachusetts). I dont think there are a lot of Vermonter on this board! I have been recently looking around the job boards and it seems family NP is most in demand there.
  8. I had a different question for Maine sp when I emailed the Maine nursing boards a question, they emailed me back the next day and told me processing time was typically 4-6 weeks.
  9. I might already know my own answer but thought I'd ask for input from the group. After one year in a crazy clinic with a supervising physician who had no interest in teaching me anything, I left and now am struggling to find a new job. I have gotten a few calls about "temping" as an NP which makes little sense to me- why not just hire someone? It seems to be that without tons of experience in different places, temping could be disaster? any one have any experience or thoughts. Thanks! Max
  10. Thanks for all the info Angie! I'll check them out!
  11. Angie O, Congrats on the job. I too and in Mass and was thinking of checking out Maine jobs- Can you tell me how the licensing in Maine worked for you? Did your new job have to participate in maine licensing? Thanks for any help!
  12. Thanks for all the responses! I need a job and have an interview about 65 miles away on Friday- not ideal but doable. Thanks again!!!
  13. Just curious- how long do u think is too long? Given the job market, what is the longest you would drive??
  14. Well, I have been in one horrible job so far and I can feel for you. Don't blame yourself or feel like a failure because of someone else actions! If you don't like where you are, start looking, but it seems pretty tough out there!!
  15. I have no advice but just wishing you good luck! Congrats on landing a job too!!!!
