Hi Friends
Has anyone here ever visited Canon City or have any "inside" info about this area? I have been told that there are good jobs here for nurses. Thanks :)

Canon is a tourist town. It is ok not very exciting. The Colorado super max prison is located outside of Canon as well as a womens prision so lots of locals are employed there. I personally would rather live in Pueblo West and commute into Canon than live in Canon.
Thanks cb0027 for the information. I've never worked in a super max prison but I've often wondered if it would be an interesting job. :)

I live 5 miles outside of Canon. I happen to like this area. It is a smaller community, but there are jobs. There are state and federal prisons in Fremont County. The area is growing. There are plans to add more stores and restaurants (Home Depot, Target, Applebees, Denny's, etc). The cost of living is cheaper than in Pueblo West. The college here is also expanding. I don't agree with Canon City being a tourist town. It very close to alot of really hking trails into the mountains. Pueblo West is very, very windy with few trees and flat, but it is closer to a mall.
Thanks micco for your imput. :) It sure sounds like a nice place.

My sister lives in Pueblo West and works as a CRNA in the area. She's worked at the prison for years. If you want more information on that, I could ask her to email you.

When I traveled to Ft Carson I picked up some per diem at the hospital in Canon. A nice hospital, with a very friendly staff. If it wasn't for the drive up from Colorado Springs, I would have done a lot more work there.

Thanks tntrn and 2nd Career RN. :) I am hoping to move someday in the future. There are so many wonderful areas to live. It's hard to choose.
