  1. Hi, Stick with the job searching. I had to take a seasonal retail job in 2005. However, January 2006 rolled around and I did find an outpatient nursing position north of Boston. I limited myself by searching Boston and the burbs; the job I got was greater than 1hr. away which I'll admit was not fun but you do what you have to. It was not my first choice, but it was a job and it gave me the experience I needed to move on to a great nursing job. I am a huge fan of craiglist for job postings too. Good Luck!!
  2. Ditto the above posting. Thanks
  3. I had the same problem, so I feel you pain. I graduated last June and was under the impression you had to pass the nclex to get a job. My school screwed up the apaperwork so I had to wait until Aug. By the time I received my scores it was Sept. I looked all fall for a postion, I bet I sent out over 30 resumes. I had 1 response from B&W in January. They were starting a OR orientation. However, in the beginning of Jan. I found a community health postion on the north shore in the globe. I ended up taking that postion, big mistake. Before accepting the psotion I was called for an interview at Emerson, they offered me a postion but wanted a 2yr commitment. I have since moved from the north shore postion to a private MD's office. My advice keep sending the resumes. Attend all career fairs. Tell everyone you know you are looking for a job, try to network. People tell me the rest of the US is in desperate need for RNs, I did think about leaving the state. Good Luck.
  4. Please post where you end up working in CO. I am a native who is living in Boston. However, plan to move back to CO within the next few years. I had a rough time getting a job out here, everyone tells me that CO is full of jobs. I grew up in Southern Colorado, far from the snow. Yesterday my parents said it was close to 70F. That's what I miss most.
  5. I did my maternity rotation at Brigham and Women's. It is an awesome place for L&D. However, it is in the city. They have reduced rate parking so it is possible to commute in with a car.
  6. I heard that Magnet hospitals only hire BSNs. Anyone have info regrading this.
  7. Brigham's is paying new grads $26/hr. But there is a catch they are a unionized hospital so you have monthly dues.

I am fairly sure that Disney uses Baldridge training. My mom is in charge of it for a school district. Ford, Ritz-Carlton also use it. Baldrige focuses on all aspects of a operation to achieve quality improvement/control
  9. It's the end of October and I have neither an oupatient or inpatiet job. The market around her caters to January and June hiring. It is extremely frustrating. I have sent out a bunch of resumes and visit quite a few places but no luck. I thought this process would have been much easier.
  10. It is the end of October and I still do not have a nursing postions. The majoirty of the postions were filled in June and they will be hiring again in Jan. I can't tell you how many resumes I have sent out. It is extremely frustrating to read the paper everyday and see over a 1000 postions yet I don't have one.

  12. Nursing fair did not go to well. Handed out quite a few resumes. Nobody seems to be hiring new grads. Most told me they did the hiring in June.
  13. I am going Monday to a nursing fair. I have not attended on before, so not too sure what to expect.
  14. I passed my NCLEX in Aug. I started looking in July. I've really started seriously last month. I have no other healthcare experience besides clinicals. I have some resturant work, volunteering, and tutuoring that apply to nursing so I do put them on. I just assumed that I could walk out apply and boom I have a job. Our school lacked career services, which is not helping the situation either.
  15. I am in the same boat. The advice offered above is valid. I thought it would be easier and the internet would be the way in the door. Not true. You have to pound the pavement and basically annoy HR to get responses. https://allnurses.com/forums/showthread.php?t=122408
