Just for fun - Do you have a favorite procedure? I love giving B12 shots. I have a friend that loves blood draws.
Debriding wounds, burns.
I haven't graduated yet, but I want to be an enterostomal therapist eventually. Debriding wounds just looks so rewarding. I know there is more to the job than that, but man, it just makes me want to snap my fingers and be done with school so I can get into some necrotic flesh. My family is shocked that I want to do this, I have no explanation for this choice besides that it was meant to be, LOL.
Wow, reading this thread has really opened my mind. I start school in August, and right now if I think too hard about an IV stick, I get dizzy. To think of actually ENJOYING it really turns my head around. Cool! I can see how it would be rewarding though - such a challenge to find that vein in the flesh, and then you get immediate feedback in the flashback if you did it right.
Count me in for a good cracked chest (but on never my patient :) )
Placing an IV in the patient that is coding
I love teaching/education...especially for families that have a loved on going to (or in) emergency surgery...but all education and teaching is good
I like watching the doctor "pop" an abscess...totally gross but so fascinating at the same time, like popping a big zit...
I appreciate any skill that I do that goes well- especially when on a difficult patient.

I love pacing patients after surgery, if they need it!! I don't know why, I think I just like the option of doing this before calling the doctor for low BP's, brady arrythmias, pauses, etc. :)
