What keeps you going?

What are yours?
This post is right on time because I just typed this in another post...but this was inspired but one of my clinical instructors when I was in a bad spot last semester and needed a wake up call:
Ask questions, make mistakes, and get messy!
Yes I got that from the magic school bus, it's what ms frizzle would say but let me explain why it was inspired me to think of this saying. My instructor told me that nursing school is a time to ask questions and don't be afraid to make mistakes so that you won't make serious mistakes when your a RN!
You need to know what you don't know and practice to make it second nature.
I love this thread, I've searched for it many times:) here's mine...
"I make myself rich by making my wants few."
"No one can make you feel inferior without your consent."
"It's never too late to be what you might have been."
"If you want the rainbow you gotta put up with the rain."
"Dreams take time, patience, sustained effort, and a willingness to fail if they are ever meant to be anything more than dreams."
Just get it done!
Another one my dad always tells me when I'm having a tough time: "If it's easy, it's not worth it. Anything worth it, is worth fighting for." This doesn't give me the sympathy I want at the time when I'm having a breakdown, but then it always makes me feel better later.
One set of nuggets of wisdom that I like is from the movie "The Jerk". Steve Martin's character, Navin Johnson, gets them from his adoptive Black dad as he's leaving home to make his way in the world...
"The Lord loves a workin' man.
Never trust Whitey.
See a doctor and get rid of it."
They have serious meaning to me; the first is a distillation of "fortune favors the bold", "you've gotta make your own success", etc. The second I take to mean "everybody lies"; "take it with a grain of salt", "trust but verify"... and the last one is pretty self-explanatory and applies especially to us dumb men who will put off going to the doc for anything short of a traumatic amputation.
