Considering that some of use spend 8-12+ hours at work, what are things that you take with you to work?

My bag:

-extra pair of scrubs

-deodorant

-baby wipes

-socks

-Clorox wipes

The basics like wallet, cell, yada yada.

I am curious. :redpinkhe

In my bag: extra scrubs, bp cuff and stethoscope, tylenol, cough drops, some kind icy hot type stuff for sore muscles, my food for the evening, wallet, cell phone, gait belt (though I put in on as soon as I get there), and sunglasses. In my pockets: resident census, pen, sharpie, eye drops for dry contacts, lip balm, and badge.

MY SANITY!!! Everything else is secondary. I try very hard to leave with it too!!!

Ibuprofen, a couple bags of tea (mmmm tea = relaxation x 3), an extra pen (because I'm always losing mine), and my toothbrush/toothpaste (good breath = happy patients!).

This fascinates me. You actually find time to brush your teeth? If I find the time to eat at all, I am usually cramming the food into my body so fast I am trying not to gag on it, and my mouth is still stuffed while I am nearly running back to my assignment. I have had to pee at work and been forced to hold it for 3 or 4 hours because I literally could not risk taking five minutes to use the restroom.

The fact is, we are legally entitled to our breaks and to do basic things like use the bathroom. Your facility cannot stop you from doing these things. What is the worst thing that's going to happen if a call light rings for an extra minute while you go pee? While I have some days where I miss my breaks, I would never allow it to become a regular thing.

I bring my lunch and a water bottle. For on the floor, I just have a gait belt, hand sanitizer, and a pen.

I have my kindle with the charger, always a textbook (in nursing school), my medicine cabinet (includes tampons, exedrine, anti-diarrhea, anti-acid, tylenol, cough drops, allergy meds), stethoscope, bp cuff, pen light, scissors, pens/pencils, trail mix, individual packets of crystal light, tea bags for hot stuff, deodorant, tape, alcohol pads, and bandaides.

I keep my debit card in my badge holder.

4. Germ-X

5. Moisturizer

6. Hair Brush and combs

7. Oral care supplies

8. Body wash

Stuff for cares, but I work in a peds unit with disabled adults and kids

In my own personal purse which is huge Hey I'm a girl..:) I always carry extra pants because lessons learned! I never take more than change in work and leave bills in car locked..my own deodorant, body spray because I smoke, facial cleansing cloths and wash, food, extra hair ties, headbands, tampons!!!!

Also I've learned to chew a lot of gum and use vicks under My nose because I've worked for 5 years at same ltcf and still have trouble with the smell..

We can get in BIG trouble if we chew gum at work. I i think it's gross and unproffesional to have a caregiver chewing the cud whilst wiping your butt.

I cant believe you can get in trouble at work for chewing gum, but I smoke I rather them smell mint then smoke, something to dumb the breath! Sometimes I eat donuts walking down the hallway!! : )

I'm truly considering buying a electronic thermometer because I can never find one on the unit. Luckily, there is a lady who I work with who always has one, and we all have to take turns using it.I wonder how much they cost?
