Considering that some of use spend 8-12+ hours at work, what are things that you take with you to work?
My bag:
-extra pair of scrubs
-deodorant
-baby wipes
-socks
-Clorox wipes
The basics like wallet, cell, yada yada.
I am curious. :redpinkhe
I wouldn't say that I have a bag...I just stuff my pockets with all of my "tools."
I ALWAYS bring a red pen, black pen, highlighter, dry-erase board marker, my clipboard with my treatment sheets on it, a watch set to military time, hand sanitizer, my badge(with a mini permanent marker attatched to it), and I keep extra scrubs in my car. You can never be too prepared! :]
You all are ametures...lol...I have a backpack that I bring to work with me. It has Tylenol, school books, ipod+player, TUMS, Immodium AD, cough drops, pens. pencils, scissors, alcohol prep pads, highlighters, magazine, hand sanitizer, chap stick, lotion, my wallet, cell phone. I dont bring an extra set of scrubs and socks though, i have thought of doing that but that would be too much to bring then...lol...hope you all enjoyed, I am a high maintanence dude..lol!
Dude, no gum ?. !!
I agree with fuzzywuzzy. I drink a lot of coffee at work, and I have periods of time when I'm in my office doing paperwork for a long time, my preferred coffee time. If I get paged to a STAT test or rapid response/code blue, I always have a stick of gum in my pocket that I can pop in my mouth as I'm hurrying through the halls before I have to lean all over my patients' chests to place electrodes. I do not smack it or blow bubbles, and once my breath is fresh I get rid of it.
note cards, watch, pulse ox, paper tape, plastic tape, tape measure, pens, paper, call list, hand soap/sanitizer, bp cuff/stethoscope, paper towels, gloves, trash bag, red bag, cpr mask/shield,..no money, work id and dr license. im in hospice..hense the need for more...why the cpr mask(just in case the family has an issue!)..oh yah..gum and hard candy, granola bar, water, personal necessities in car to incl uniform. Not high maintenance, just prepared for anything. Ive been caught to many times un prepared.
We can get in BIG trouble if we chew gum at work. I i think it's gross and unproffesional to have a caregiver chewing the cud whilst wiping your butt.
#1. I would like to commend you on your use of "whilst."
#2. I like to chew minty gum at work. It's *technically* against the rules, but we don't have gum nazis where I work.
#3. I don't want my pts to smell my stank breath. lol:uhoh3:
Kool-aide.
Nutrigrain bars, hard candies, mints, extra pens, sunglasses, Icy Hot for my back, Ibuprofen, body spray, hand lotion, deoderant, scrap paper...
Do you ever wonder why nobody ever has a freakin pen? This is nursing. We will always, always need a pen. It's a good idea to have more than one. I have even seen supervisors and assistant directors patting around their pockets and saying, "Darn it, I forgot to bring a pen today....."
I usually have a couple of cheap pens on me so I can tell the person who asks to just keep it. I hate running around the building chasing down a borrowed pen.
A toothbrush and paste for after meals
This fascinates me. You actually find time to brush your teeth? If I find the time to eat at all, I am usually cramming the food into my body so fast I am trying not to gag on it, and my mouth is still stuffed while I am nearly running back to my assignment. I have had to pee at work and been forced to hold it for 3 or 4 hours because I literally could not risk taking five minutes to use the restroom.
