Whats are the best classes to start with?

Published

I currently am in the admission process for the, now, fall semester! I probably will be taking some of the classes at a community college in the Spring that will transfer just to get started. I was just wondering which ones I should take!? I could take chemistry, principles of microbiology, human growth and development, social problems, intro to algebra, microeconomics or macro or basic economics(ive taken basic and failed :( that class is HARD),anatomy and physiology. I was just curious which classes are better to start with! Maybe there all ok. :wink2:

Thank You

They make you take micro and macro economics as a requirement? hmmm...I started out with A and P first along with nutrition, and a math course. It worked out well for me. Im not sure if you are part time or full time. Taking two classes with labs may be challenging depending on your schedule.

Those science, anatomy, chem. type courses can be tough, just take one per semester, no more than one and no less than one. Some classes have prereqs, so you will need those first. Good luck.

If you want to start off relatively easy, my opinion is that you should take human growth and development or social problems.

An advisor at your school or someone in the nursing department may be able to give you an idea of how most students go through the courses.

I would take chemistry before microbiology, and at the same time or before A & P (I personally found that chemistry helped me with my physio). I'd also take math before economics, since there's math in econ.

Or, just see what fits in your schedule :D

What about social problems and chemistry? I haven't taken chemistry since high school so I definetly want to take it again but I honestly can't remember if it was tough or not. It's just basic chemisty. I think Im going to try to take those online!:typing

Your right about the labs, I didn't think about that! Yeah I don't know why we have to take economics but I took basic econ. as an online course and that was a VERY VERY BAD idea!!:chuckle

i think start with human health and development.... those courses are required for many degrees. i also agree only take one science at a time. I took two chemistry courses as well as a and p 2 at one time and i got A's in all of them... but i had a good foundation of a& P and i spent several weeks brushing up on my math for chemistry. which im not sure might make your decision for you since many chemistry classes have college algebra as a pre-req.. (im not sure intro will cut it) good luck!

I'm taking A&P, chemistry and intro to biology. the biology is online which is ok but I would not want to take the chemistry online. granted it's been 20 years since I had chemistry in high school, but I could never figure this stuff out on my own.

Yeah maybe taking chemistry online isn't the best idea since Im not the best at math! I definetly need those math courses first!!

My opinion or choice would be chem and human growth n Dev if you're going to take them at the same time and REALLY want to take a science course...Though I agree with the above poster that said to take one science course at a time.

Taking chemistry before the bio classes was so, SO helpful for me. There's a lot of chemistry in Anatomy & Physiology, and ime it gets breezed through pretty quickly. Understanding atoms and bonds, molarity, and gas laws was especially helpful.

I'd avoid online science classes. Maybe this has just been my online class experience, but the class I took online was basically a lot of self-teaching, power points that didn't come close to replacing lecture, and a lot of busy work and forum posting for "class" time. It's fine for easier classes, but harder classes and classes with a lot of material are best taken in a classroom, imo.
