What to wear to nursing conference?

Published

I am attending a nursing conference soon. I don't know what to wear. It's very warm and I don't want to wear jeans. Any ideas/advice?

Whatever you wear, you want to represent yourself as a professional. Save the casual clothes for after the conference. You don't have to wear a suit, but nice pants and blouse and shoes would look fine. I hope you learn a lot an dhave a good time at your conference.

Skirt and a short sleeved top or slacks and a top. Take a jacket, 'cause if find the air conditioning to be a bit much at most events like that.

People who were at nursing conferences I have attended recently wear all types of things from shorts to dressy dresses/suits. You need to wear whatever you will be comfortable with. If it is in a warm climate, I would suggest nice capris, slacks, or casual skirt and a nice top...possibly sleeveless with a sweater or over shirt....one with short or 3/4 length sleeves. That way you will be prepared if the room is chilly. Personally, I would be uncomfortable wearing jeans or a dressy dress. I like the middle ground better. And sandals are fine to wear. But like I said....you will see a little bit of everything. Hope you enjoy the conference.

I usually wear dress slacks and a nice shirt/blouse when I go. Like the above poster stated, I would take a jacket. It is usually cool.

I've been to lots of professional conferences, and the "middle ground" suggested above is usually the best option. You don't want to be the most casually dressed person in the room. That will make you look unprofessional. But you also don't want to be the one who is the most dressed up. Nice slacks and tops are usually the best choice -- and take a sweater or jacket just in case you need it. Also, wear comfortable shoes. Why ruin a good experience by making yourself uncomfortable?

Have fun. Learn lots.

You will see a little of everything, but if you wear casual business attire you will not offend anyone and will appear professional. Personally I hate hosiery, but I do wear shoes that do not look like sneakers or flip flops. I recommend a light jacket or sweater as temps may vary.

I always go with "business casual," with comfortable shoes and layers to accomodate temperature variations. You never know you you're going to meet at a conference (who will be turn out to be an important career contact), and you want to be prepared to make a positive, professional impression.

I always ride my Harley so boots, jeans, a black tee shirtare my threads of choice. So as you have been told you will see a little of any dress.

Comfortable underwear...they can be long days.

Okay, here was the best thing I ever saw at a nursing conference. It was a guy with very neon yellow shorts that were loose enough where you could see he didn't have underwear on because he straddled himself on the chair backwards. Please don't wear this!!!
