What did you wear to your CNA interview?

Hello CNA's!

What did you wear to an interview for a CNA position?

My career history consists of various positions in medical admin so my interview waredrobe is made up of blouses, dress pants and pumps. I'm going to be starting the search for a CNA spot but feel that what I have may be a bit too dressy.

Thoughts?

Specializes in Emergency.

I wore black slacks, a collard long sleeve shirt and a tie. Everyone talked me out of wearing a sport coat. Being dressy, but not too dressy got me hired :)

The blouse and dress pants would probably work fine.

Black dress pants, white blouse, black jacket, and black flats. This may have been a little too dressy but ALL the administrators and bosses at my facility (DON, ADON, etc.) dress very professionally. You can never go wrong with black pants and a nice blouse. When I went for my interview there were a bunch of other people being interviewed and some of them wore jeans. I get that you are 16 years old but come on. I was the only one hired.

PS- They called me to fill out an application and I didn't know that I was going to be interviewed. It was a good thing that I was dressed the way I was dressed (trust me, the interview went horrible).

Specializes in Acute Rehab, IMCU, ED, med-surg.

I wore scrubs to apply (was what I had on because I was going to class after that) and black pants, black loafers and a sweater to my interview. I tried to go for a professional, unassuming look. I was hired, so these must have been the right choices.

I just had an interview today and wore my standard interview "uniform" - black slacks, white blouse, black blazer and black heels. I know it's a little dressy, but I worked many years as a secretary and this is the type of clothing that I always wore for interviews.

I haven't gotten a job yet, but crossing my fingers. The more interviews I go on, the easier they get. Good luck to you.

Specializes in LTC.

I interviewed in the middle of the summer so I wore a white knee-length skirt with a dark red floral design and a fitted dark red tee with some foofy neck decoration. And blue ballet flats.

Specializes in 6 yrs LTC, 1 yr MedSurg, Wound Care.

I wore a pair of jeans and a nice shirt. I was thinking that I wanted to look nice, but not too dressy for the job. When I interviewed at the hospital however, I wore slacks & heels. I doubt it was my clothes though, I was hired when I walked in the door because they were so short staffed. :D

I wore khaki slacks, a nice long sleeve dress shirt, matching brown dress shoes and belt. nice wrist watch. fresh hair cut and clean shaven. smelling nice, had an extra resume (printed on stock) and all my certs and immunizations in a packet with me. i was offered the job before the interview was over for a major hospital here in town in the med-surg/tele units.

dress professionally and place yourself above the rest. also, practice your answers to the most common interview questions. there are certain ways to answer the weakness question and the conflict questions. also research the hospital and company you are interviewing with so you can crush the "why do you want to work here?" question.

Slacks and a blouse. Why would that be too dressy for a CNA position? It's a professional job.

From the advice of the crowd here... :) I wore black dress slacks, a nice shirt, and black shoes.

I was interviewed last week and cringed when I saw the Hiring person call in her next interview candidate. Candidate was wearing capris with draw string bottoms and a flip floppy type of shoe.

I wore a nice, black dress(hard to describe. It's from H&M, and I bought with my boyfriend at the time, an engineer, specifically for interviews haha) with nylons and small heels.
