Hi good day!!! I just would like to ask help from you guys...I started applying as an Immigrant in Canada, and one of the requirements is to take IELTS exams. I know that being a nurse if I will apply as a worker in other countries, I should take the Academic module of IELTS. But as an Immigrant, the required module is General.

I am confused as to what module should I take? The consulting agency that's processing my papers told me that I should take the general training module. But in the review center the professor's advice is to take the academic module, for me to be able to work as a nurse in Canada.

Can somebody please help me?:cry:Will appreciate your reply soonest...

Thanks a lot!!!:nurse:

Hello Prettyreader,

I think you should take the academic module. :)

In my opinion, academic module is more difficult than the general module.

And one more thing, employers require nurses to take the academic module of IELTS. Medical field people should be able to communicate well so as to avoid grave mistakes.

I agree better to take the academic module. Also look to what the province college requires because they will require it

What type of IELTS do i need to take? There are two types 1) Academic and 2) Academic and General. Which one is required for most countries?

Most countries as far as I am aware requires Academic in IELTS not the general but usually will state on the board of nursing website

You need to take academic module for licensure, but general module for immigration. If you took an academic module I would include a letter explaining that you had to take it for licensure purposes. May or may not work.

Check with the province college but generally Academic is required by them so if he has done general he may find he will have to do academic

thank you so much...:)

i have another question.. which is better? to take the ielts exam there in canada or here in the philippines? by canada, i mean when his immigration visa will be approved.

If he has started the process to the college then he will not get eligibility to sit CRNE etc until his file is complete and IELTS would be required. Probably better to get it done sooner rather than later
