What supplies are needed for LVN?

I will be attending LVN school in Feb. 2006 and the School's tuition is $17,000 which is only for tuition, books and tests. I would like to know what Supplies I will be needing for school, to start buying now little by little before school starts, instead of buying everything at once, once they ask for it, which can be devistating (moneywise). Also, I live on my own and have a 3 yr. old son, and would like to know what type of grants/loans I can apply for to help me while I'm in school...(childcare, supplies, etc.) I really appreciate it if you guys can help me out......THANKS!!!!

That's a lot of money for LVN school. Where are you at? ANyhow, you'll need a stethoscope, bp cuff, and a penlight. I don't know if you'll need to cuff or not, but my program required it.

Thank you all for welcoming me...........And thanks for your replies.....:)

I bought my steth and BP cuff, among other things, at http://www.allheart.com

They're offering the "student package" with certain Littmann stethescopes right now.

One thing that's easy enough to forget, but really handy to have, is a pen on a rope. You can always rely on that one if you lose the one in your pocket!

that's about the same amt I spent on tuition and books combined so it's not far off. If the book cost doesn't include it you'll need a tabers, drug book, diag. reference

For equipment....steth, bp cuff, pen light, watch w/ a second hand were mandatory

Things I found helpful: index cards (tons for flashcarding for tests), a clipboard that opens up is great in clinical)

Good Luck
