There's a whole forum here on shoes and footwear...look under the "Nurses" tab and it's toward the bottom.
BUT, I switch between pairs of Crocs Mercy Works (super cushiony), Birkis Dorians (super supportive and shock absorbing), and Alegria Feliz (super supportive, but with a cushy insole). Switching helps a TON.
You need something with arch support and shock absorption. Of the brands I listed above, the Crocs are most affordable but the least supportive. The Alegrias are more expensive, but my feet feel the best in them. You can get Alegrias on closeout prices on their website, though!
Sketcher SHape up work shoes (they have non slip bottoms) and way more cushion than reg sneakers. Just make sure when you first get them you wear them a few hours one day, then a little longer the next day then once you get used to them they are the BEST!!I am plus sized, so I need good shoes. A lot of nurses wear Danskos but I find I turn my ankles in them a lot.
I switch back and forth between Crocs and a pair of New Balance running shoes. The most important thing for me is to not wear the same pair too many days in a row. I really want to try some of the toning shoes, but I think I'll go for the New Balance ones when I do, since their athletic shoes tend to fit my (narrow) feet really well.
Since you have gotten a lot of recommendations for the Shapeups and toning shoes, I just wanted to add something.
Those do have EXCELLENT cushioning and feel great on your feet. But if you have week ankles or are prone to turning your ankles (or falls in general, if you're clumsy like me) I'd stay away from them.
They've been banned at my facility because two different girls fractured their feet while wearing them at work. I tried them and they felt good, but I had to return them because I'm clumsy enough as it is. It's the same reason I can't wear Danskos, too.
But if you have no issues with taller heels/weak ankles, they might work really well for you!

Any advice on what I can do to prevent my feet from being so sore, and hurting when I come home. I just started a CNA job working twelves. It is mornings, and I'am constantly running around! Ugh!!! I hardly get to sit, and relax lol!
Those call lights DONT stop, and there is always someone that wants to go to the bathroom! When It is time for me to go home my feet are KILLING me! I have to go home, and soak them. So what brand of shoes do you buy to help, and anything else you do to help! Thanks!
