What does your screenname mean?

Published

I hope this is a topic which hasn't been posted on before. I did a search for the word screenname and came up with nothing, so let me be the one who starts this one up. How did you come up with your screenname? Is it simply just where you work and/or part of your name, or is there some more creative background to it?

Mine is simple. I'm a psych RN, and 03 is the year I signed up on this board. Normally I try to come up with some creative screennames, but I guess I just wasn't feeling real creative that night.

Now your turn. I'd love to hear from y'all.

EDIT: I found that someone just yesterday responded to this same type of thread started in '01. :o :imbar So feel free to let this thread die a slow agonizing death. Or better yet, endulge me with some responses. :D

Mine isn't too thought provoking either....I work in telemetry, hence Telenurse.

Nana I have too say you have a very perceptive grandchild !

I see nothing wrong with posting a topic that has been discussed before. We get new members on the board all the time and someone might have something new or interesting to say.

I am cotjockey because I am a paramedic...out fire department refers to our firefighters as hose jockeys and they call the paramedics "paragods." I hate feeling like people think I am a "paragod" and told them so...they started calling me cotjockey.

Specializes in Pediatrics.

another no-brainer. i work (well sort of) on a bone marrow transplant unit. not so much, anymore, as the unit is combined with the peds heme/onc floor, and i never seem to be scheduled there anymore :o (kind of a sore subject for me, as i really enjoyed bmt). might be time to change my name (and my job). i have to see which i can come up with first!!

btw, can you change your screenname without signing up all over again??

My name is Betsy and I am an RN. Very simple. Hence, the screen name.

Mine comes from a certain aneasthetist who calls all the females patients and staff Ethel if he can't remember your name. So is you don't know mine I also respond to names like Susan, Mavis, Nurse or Sister sometimes even Dear but that is not one of my favorites.

Specializes in Stroke Rehab, Elderly, Rehab. Ortho.

My name is Sue and I have used initials of my Husbands first name and surname (IP) :)

My middle name is Sue and I have natural curley hair. Like the movie. Curleysue

On 9-1-1 my husband and I were having breakfast while listening to the Today Show, and watched in horror as the first plane flew into the Twin Towers, and then the second. I screamed at him, "Oh my God, we're being attacked. It was comming out of my mouth before I even knew the thought was in my head. We couldn't get get enough news, fast enough, so I went online to see if I could get more information.

I found an MSN Group, Breaking News, that was formed minutes after the attack, by people wanting immediate information. There were already hundreds of people posting about the events taking place.

The attacks provoked and rallied my deepest patriotism. I needed a screen name to post on the group's blog ... thus AllAmericanGirl. I have kept the screen name. The Group still exists, and I am now the manager.

My name is not very imaginative. It is the first two letters of my first and middle name, and the first letter of my last name. Wasn't very creative the day I signed up.

Specializes in Psychiatric, Home Health, Geriatrics.

I chose MissPiggy because that has been my nickname at work for years; I have had potbellied pigs for a long time now and since I have no children, they have been a great substitute. Needless to say, they are pretty much the center of my life - hence the name.

Nesher is Hebrew for eagle.

This name has meaning to me because my husband and I own an old (1930) wooden fishing boat named...you guessed it...someday she will float again and soar through the waves...

Specializes in OB, M/S, HH, Medical Imaging RN.

Not very original I'm afraid. I'm a Dutchgirl and an RN.
