What is really going on? I need help!

I am interested in Travel nursing; however, every company I've come across offers wages that are not financially beneficial. It seems to me that traveling with companies are only monetarily beneficial when u don't have monthly bills or that u have no other job opportunities. I guess I am just frustrated with the job market and that it is hard to maintain let alone get ahead while these companies rape us out of money... Sorry venting Lol! Okay Im back to feeling better.... Any recommendations for good companies?

Ehh, IMO, the highest paying agencies are the small agencies. I think the pay difference b/w big companies and small is extremely substantial.

Man, if you think you are getting paid today, what you were worth 11 years ago..............dream on, put your little rn license plate on your car, and go to bars in scrubs acting like you somebody. But dont mislead these new travelers that they are getting a great deal! They deserve the truth..............and better than that.

Wow, exactly. Where the heck do you get off writing something like that?

Considering I'm one of the relatively "newbie" travelers who has only been traveling for a year, I'm here to tell us it IS a sweet deal. And yes, I AM one of those who doesn't do it to make all the money. But I do work for the most part on my own terms and I have a say in my pay, something a staff nurse today doesn't have. I DO get to travel around and really experience all the culture a new city has to offer, I have the luxury of trying a new facility on for size before I make a commitment. Almost every person I meet on the street agrees I have it made.

No, travel nurses aren't making all the money the way they used to, and it had nothing to do with the "newbies not knowing any better". Demand for travel RNs, heck demand for RNs, as Ned said, dramatically dropped in 2008. Considering I was a new grad in 2010, believe me it was true!

However, depending on where you go, travel RNs still make competitive salaries. I'm in SF now, and some of my fellow travelers got some sweet deals so we don't break the bank living in this expensive city! Yes, ALL of us are easily clearing the $40 mark, or we couldn't afford to be here!

I make double what I would have made back home. Per job pay rates are notoriously low there. No complaints from me. It's not a get-rich-quick thing. But I'm able to put back quite a bit.
