My daughter is starting nursing school in the spring and even though I am a nurse, I have forgotten all of the necessities that helped me survive nursing school (except Vicks Vapor Rub - people in my clinical's offered me $$$ for just a dab LOL!!) I am planning on stocking her up at Christmas, so any and all ideas would be great!! Thanks!!

I think that some of the things that you need in a nursing school is a good pair of shoes to avoid sore feet. One should also be equipped with vitamin supplements so that one can always be alert and healthy. Most of all I think the most important thing to bring in a nursing school is to have a health dose of positivism and cheerful disposition. Good luck to your daughter in her new journey.

You can layer it between two masks, slap me on and clean poop all day long without smelling it!!!!! Toothpaste works well too!
That is valuable info !!!!!....lol

A decent stethoscope, if you can afford it. A drug guide for med cards, gum or mints for after coffee and lunch, maybe a massage certificate in her stocking.......(oh, wait, now I'm thinking about what I want).

Is she done with her anatomy and physiology classes already? If not -- flashcards!

I am also in nursing school, starting clinical rotations in the Spring and here's what I'm asking for (or have already recieved):
Littmann's Master Classic II with personalization (in-laws already sent :))
Palm Pilot or I Phone for nursing software so I don't have to have my phone with me (already bought for myself because I found it used on Craigslist for a great price)
Shoes and pants
and here are some things I've bought for others as thank yous when I borrowed books, received help with something, etc:
Starbucks cards, cute organizer (Vera Bradley or Spartina or something), badge holder/ retractable thing, Scrubs Magazine subscription, etc...
On behalf of nursing students everywhere: "THANKS, MOM"!!
ps - I have a quick questions for you: I've noticed that my parents, neighbor (retired), cleaning lady, and in-laws are all uncharacteristically supportive of my going into nursing...just wondering, is there any secret self-serving hope behind it? Like, are they thinking "Oh, now there will be somebody who can take care of me"? I'd be honored if so.

They probably like the idea of you being able to care for them more than the nursing home!
That's exactly what it's for and saved me during my first clinical rotation at a nursing home! Stuff as much as you can handle up each nostril or on your upper lip and it will cover up almost any foul odor or at least make it more tolerable!!! It was on of the best tips I ever got from a seasoned nurse
