What should I get paid in Austin?
My boyfriend and I rent a very very nice 900 sq ft apartment. Each have car payments, insurance payments, groceries, internet, cell phone, etc. I make half of what you're starting out on and he makes about $14 per hour right now. We have more than enough for our bills and a bit left over. Considering you'll make a little under what we make as a COUPLE -- you'll be fine. I wouldn't run out and buy a house right now, but you can definitely live. If you have an entire family to support on your own, you may want to look elsewhere.

Is an iPad beneficial?
I purchased a Nook Color and rooted it to be an Android tablet. So a cheap, reliable, good quality tablet for half the price and it works on wi-fi.

What "must haves" does a student nurse need for school?
Is she done with her anatomy and physiology classes already? If not -- flashcards!

Bullies at the work place.. vent
I think using the hot button word "bullying" here is completely off base. She was upset, made a couple of comments. Approached you once. Being upset does not make someone a bully. This word is being seriously abused these days. You had a human interaction, you were not bullied.

Drawing blood/phlebotomy tips and tricks
In addition to what was said here, I would have an extremely difficult time taking an instructor seriously if they wrote like "u no u aren't supposed 2". It is very difficult to assume you know what you're talking about when you aren't even writing sentences. If you want to get into nursing instructions, and that is awesome and I hope that you do, I recommend that you practice your writing skills. What better way to start than here on the forums!

Fall A and P I
Hi there! We're all far enough in that we've probably taken at least ONE major exam. How did you do? I got an A on my lab exam and a B+ on the lecture portion. I have a 92% in the class (eeek borderline!) I now have to work extra hard to make sure that doesn't slip into a B. One of my study partners, who is a really nice girl, she's failed both major exams so far. I feel so bad for her She seemed to study the hardest and the longest out of everyone. I guess part of me should be glad that she's less competition to get into the program....but I can't help but want everyone to do well.

Anatomy Flashcards
Hi there! As we're getting into the skeletal and muscular system I realize that there are a LOT of things for me to memorize and learn. I think the best format for me would be flashcards. Does anyone have a good recommendation for any particular brand or kind? Preferably cards that are detailed (includes the fossa and foramen, etc) for the bones would be great. I did a basic google search and the results were astounding -- I thought I'd ask the experts here first!

Pre Reqs
I'm in my first semester of prereqs right now. Our main class is a prereq for all the other prereqs so we are kind of bottle-necked at this class. The class also has an exam you have to pass with a C to get into the class. I know some people who've taken the test 3 times without coming close to passing. Some people have even taken a semester long class dedicated to JUST passing the test and not passed. Scares me! So far the classes are really fun though.

Intro to Nursing Profession Online?
From what I've seen so far with nursing programs....almost all schools require that you take any Nursing related courses at their institution. It might be different state to state or school to school, but all the colleges and universities I've looked into only accept core curriculum from their own courses.
