What the pro and con of being a nurse?

I can only personally speak for myself but I believe the way you view nursing depends on your experience and areas of work. In a nutshell...

Nursing has to be something you are passionate about and enjoy being part of. It pays well, great benefits depending on where you live, and you can pretty much work anywhere in the world and have plenty of areas to work in (not many jobs have this opportunity). You gain incredible joy from helping those that cannot help themselves.

However, nursing isn't for everyone: it takes a lot of work and dedication, it is NOT an easy program and it is very time consuming. Depending on your placements, it can be emotionally and physically tiring. You have to deal with a lot of unpleasant situations and some people may not be able to handle it.

Con:

Having to eat your lunch in 2 minutes while standing over a garbage can.

Pro: I guess enjoying what you do! ( If you do in fact enjoy it)

Grossing out friends and family with stories at dinner.

I like making people feel better.

You meet all sorts of people from different cultures and walks a life ( Staff/Patients/ Family members

One time I got into the a museum for free because I took care of someones mother.( I was a PCA at the time)

depends on how you look at the glass

if you have no kids, you might enjoy working holidays (you bank holiday time and you get paid time and a half)

pro's are self explanatory, its subjective and everyone might find something different that they like. the pay is good. not great, for all the work and responsibility under your belt.

cons..again subjective. but if you love what you do, then its no problemo.

i was gonna say mean doctors, but i cant blame the doctor for being mad when someone calls them at 3 in the morning to ask "can the patient with a 480 blood sugar have a sandwhich"

For the pro, you can be a witness on a beginning of a new life and the end of a life of a person. the con is you have to stay focus on everything that you do because you are responsible with the life of others.
