I just thought it would be interesting to see what schools everyone attended for nursing. This is open to everyone all the way from hospitals that grant diplomas in nursing to large universities that issue Ph.D's. Also, would you recommend your school to prospective nurses? And lastly what is your fondest memory while pursuing your nursing education?
Hi
I went to school WAY back in the 60's. I went to a Diploma school and back then it was one of the best around. St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing; we were affiliated with Loyola University and had there Professors for some of our classes.
It was an excellent education. It is now closed, as are most Hospital schools in this area.
Some of my Best Memories come from living in the Dorm--which was a requirement back then. Back in the 60's, it was a totally different world!!
I continue to love nursing & working with patients to this day!!
Viterbo College (now Viterbo University, as they now have masters programs) in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. I thought it was a wonderful school, with good preparation and lots of clinicals (we started clinicals our Sophomore year!). My best memory is probably living in the dorms Freshman year and meeting people who I am close friends with to this day.
I graduated from the University of South Alabama...it's a wonderful school!
My fondest memory is of my psych nursing instructor trying to quiz us on what tardive dyskinesia, pill rolling, torticollis, etc. look like...she was very bizzare indeed as she sort of staggered around the room going into these various problems! lol
I went to a hospital based diploma program (3 years) St. Mary's Hospital School of Nursing in Huntington, WV. This was in 1975. I graduated in 1978We were also affiliated with Marshall University and that is where I took all the prerequisites (eng, soc, nutrition etc). My momma went to St. Mary's too and she graduated in 1950.
I attended the BSN program at The University of Pennsylvania and had the most wonderful learning experience of my life.

I went to an ADN school, my daughter will be attending the same school. Yes, I would recommend it, they have a high NCLEX pass rate.
