What is next...

I wasn't accepted into the two nursing programs I applied to this year.

Have a few things to consider. I currently have a B.S. degree in a human services and 30 years old.

I was hoping to be done with nursing by the time I turned 32, but seems unlikely.

Need some feedback considering a few options:

There is two bachelor nursing programs at public universities can apply to. I would have to take another 2 more semesters of prerequisites.

Other option is at a public university program I can apply to either their accelerated program or their traditional program. I can apply to the program in the Fall and probably be one of the least expensive options.

Other option is can apply to apply to either a private or for profit school. This option is costly. From what I have heard student loans at the profit school's are non existent for 2nd degree students.

Other option is apply to the for profit LPN program. The cost of the program is close to $30,000.

Other option is applying to the PTA program.

Not sure what the next step' s are going to be.

Do you know why you weren't accepted? How's your GPA? I'd find out why before deciding what to do next.

I am wait listed. I find out my number within the next few weeks, slight hope.

I probably will contact the school to find out the reason why. From people I have talked to who did and didn't get accepted there was a great variance in their TEAS score, which is 50%. Know one individual who had A-'s in their AP1 & 2 with a 3.5 GPA, but a TEA score of 78 get wait listed. Where an individual somewhere in the 80's on their TEAS, A on AP1, and a B in AP2 get accepted.

My TEAS score was low, which wasn't concern bringing it up. The areas I struggled with were in AP2 so planned to retake the test after I finished AP2.

I probably will reapply to the program at the end of next year.

Debating to apply to the Physical Therapy Assistant program as well.

Kind of bummed can't apply to my alma mater as they include additional chemistry classes; that take me more semesters than I would like.

Thinking of applying to two public universities in my State: Southern CT State University and Central CT State University

Also thinking of applying to 1 accelerated nursing program: Quinnipiac University

Then maybe look into one for profit school in the area.

Looking to take Physics, Lifespan, and Statistics next Fall.

Do anything else, but go for LPN and pay $30000! For that much money you can get a BSN at any public school across the US. No need to rush. I understand how badly you want to start your RN program. I am also 30, turning 31 soon, and will be applying to only two BSN programs in the area. I also have two college degrees and at first I thought I could even go for ASN, but then thought through and realized that getting anything lower than a BSN was a dumb idea. So yeah, do not go an LPN route, not only is it a silly idea but also an expensive one.

Originally planned if not accepted do the LPN route like my wife did. However, they shut down the State programs.

I am thinking of reapplying to the two community colleges and two BSN programs at the end of the year.

Then maybe two Accelerated Programs, a Public University program, PTA program, and maybe look into a few Master programs for the year after that if nothing comes into fruition.

Why dont you retake the TEAS and try to get a higher score, to make yourself more competitive? Or why dont you take some of the additional classes you need, during the summer, to speed up the process?
