What to do next after BSN and 1 yr of RN experience?

U.S.A. Michigan

Hello all,

I have over one year of experience in home health care, worked one-on-one with vent patients. I would like to go back to work in the hospital or clinic setting where I can work day shift. Also, wondering what certifications/further studies I can do? I have always worked part time, also had 3 months of gap because of health issues so I don't have enough hours. I would appreciate any help!

I would look at clinics (I work in a pediatric specialty center with endo, allergy, nephro, etc... clinics) with day shift hours.

Don't have enough hours for what?

for Certifications/further studies

Hi shan409,

Thank you for your response. I am currently working with pediatric patients with vent, trach, and GT. I would love to work in a clinic setting with pediatric patients. If you don't mind, can please tell me the name of the place where your are working. Do you have any job opening at your clinic? I would appreciate any help!

Just start looking for and applying for any office positions you can find. You need to take the initiative and search for them. Maybe even drop off resumes at some clinics if they will let you. You do not need further certifications to get an office nursing job.

Thank you. I have been applying to every clinic job I can find. No luck yet! but will keep trying.

I sent you a PM, but yes go out and introduce yourself. Face to face networking is the best. Even if you have to submit your app online, the manager may have you in mind or written down your callback info.

Thank you so much shan409. I got ur PM. I will go to the nearby facility in T. Can I give your name as a reference, please let me know. I was not able to send PM.

Try UofM they have stable vent units in both hospitals.
