How do you feel about the long-term effectiveness that Obamacare will have on our health? On costs? Do you think it will increase jobs in the nursing field? If you are not happy with Obamacare, what do you think will be better alternative?

Here is an alternative by Dr. Ben S. Carson, professor emeritus of neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins University. What I like about his plan is that it creates an incentive for people to live healthier rather than not taking their health seriously.

I read the article and this stuck out to me: “Keep in mind the fact that more than 150 million Americans are employed and their $2,000 per year in most cases would be happily supplied by the employer if that was their only health care obligation”
Where in the USA, can you get world-class care for $2000 (assuming you are not simply getting a check-up)? Even if you never have a medical emergency for 20 years, you would still only have $40,000. My brother was hospitalized a few months ago and his ambulance bill amounted to $800, and his total care was about $650,000 (he required two surgeries). I laughed out loud when he stated that employers would happily supply the $2000 per year, if it were their only obligation (I’m sure they would, what a deal).
What I like about his plan is that it creates an incentive for people to live healthier rather than not taking their health seriously.
What about the babies who are born with deadly defects, and are in need of both extensive and expensive medical treatment?

Bummer, my first response to the question was......Is it not The Affordable Care Act?

So far, there is nothing affordable about the ACA. I like some of the ideas in it, though I like the premise of the original idea brought forth by the Heritage foundation back in 1989. I don't think obamacare will improve healthcare since it was designed to reform health insurance. If you look at socialized medicine in other countries, there is worse care for more money and lots of inefficiency. I used and paid for healthcare for a couple years in the UK and I can tell you that most of the folks in the US have no clue what it will cost them or how much they are going to miss the old system, especially the 10,000/day retiring baby boomers. I have heard that it will add nurses because hospitals are going to transition to more acute care and the less acute care being farmed out to many more clinics, thus providing for more jobs. time will tell.
Did you also read the part that said "At least a quarter of the $2,000 per year would be devoted to bridge insurance or catastrophic insurance..." This would take care of cases like your brother.
He also stated, "This is just the basic framework of an alternative system to Obamacare that involves thinking outside of the box. With additions from positive and creative individuals, it could provide universal coverage that is simple to understand and truly affordable.", meaning he understands that of course the plan he put forth is not perfect and needs input from others but it is a starting point to, what I believe, is a better plan.

I'd like to know how many extra taxpayer dollars are being used to try and get the online exchanges up and running.

I intend to read this. Most any other plan would have been preferable though unlike most that say this I would have tended to push for a far more liberal bent, like nationalized healthcare. I remember Dr. Carson, read one of his books years ago. He's very "pull one's self up by the bootstraps".
