Hi,
Yes, "WOW" stands for work on weekend program! Some places I have worked also throw in benefits with that program. Some places call it the Baylor program or weekend special!
I worked one job where I worked 12 hours on Saturday and Sunday, had fulltime benefits, and got paid for 32 hours. I have also worked at places that want you to work 16 hours on Saturday and Sunday, and they didn't offer benefits there. I like the 12 hour shifts, but working 16 hours back to back is just too much for me! I need sleep in between work!:uhoh21:
Take care!

One facility around here does Thurs, Fri, Sat, Sun every 2 weeks, so you work 48 hours, paid for 72 and get full time benefits. You get somewhere near 40% shift diff to work that program.
They've recently added a flex program to this plan and if you are willing to float to 2 areas they'll add another 15% on to your base pay.
We have Baylor where I work. FRI/SAT nights or SAT/SUN days (12 hrs/day) and you get paid for 40 hours with full benefits...not too bad IMHO.
Gosh that's the best deal I've heard of!!!! I worked at an LTC many years ago doing weekend doubles(16 on Sat and 16 on Sun) and got paid for 40 hrs. Sunday usually ended up being 17-18 hours due to getting paperwork done that couldn't be done on Saturday so that was a bummer but it freed you up all week. We lost that extra 8 hrs though if we were sick for a shift.
My hospital has two weekend programs. One where you work Fri, Sat, Sun days or nights 12 hour shifts and the other where you only work Sat & Sun 12 shifts. Both get full time benefits and time and a half for each hour. In addition if you work an extra shift, that shift is also paid at time and a half even if you are not in overtime.
We have a long list of people applying to be weekenders and so far only senior nurses are in the available positions.
I get $30 hr for any time between 7P Fri and 7A on Mon. Full bennies. Must work 24 hours and commit to 49 weekends a year and call off no more than 36 hours scheduled time or get thrown off the program. I don't get a shift bonus if it is on the weekend, but I get a flat rate if I pick up a weekday shift, plus a bonus. I think $30 is paltry for a weekend rate; it is what all nurses should be making- at least as much as plumbers and electricians.
Does anyone else get bonuses for picking up extra time on the weekends, in addition to benefits?

I was reading the ads for nurses (just to see whats in this area) and one hospital has a position where you can work a WOW (is this weekends only??) and get 50% differential on your pay. Their pay range if from $19.58 an hour to $30.82 an hour.
What is WOW? Do any of you work this and what is it like??
Thanks for your replies.
