What is most important to you in your scrubs?

Published

I am just wondering, overall, if you had to rate what is most important to you in your uniform, what would you say?

I see so many styles of scrubs, lab coats and other accessories that it makes me wonder why you buy what you buy.

How would you rate the importance of the following features?

1. Cost

2. Style

3. Gender specific apparel

4. Fabric softness

5. # of pockets

6. Other qualifications

Decent amount of pockets is important, but a MUST for me is how well it shows off my traps and my incredibly deltoids. I like the bariatric patients to know that their in good, strong hands;-)

Just wanted to share that this one made me chuckle! :lol2: I will have to remember this when purchasing scrubs in the future!

Pockets! I made the mistake of buying Wal*Mart scrub pants that had 1 pocket. I carry a lot of stuff with me, so that didn't work.

Comfort, pockets and fit! As a 6'1" guy with long legs, i find it hard to get the right size pants with comfort and fit. But as of right now, I am wearing Tafford scrubs because of how baggy they are. I really enjoy baggy scrubs with pockets. Tighter fitting scrubs are uncomfortable to me and hate wearing the 3 pocket tops. I enjoy cargo pants thoroughly!

As many pockets as possible.... and pants that don't reveal my butt crack when I bend over/squat down. As for deltoids and traps, I always wear a long sleeved T-shirt underneath my scrub top because I don't want to intimidate anyone with my superior musculature... just kidding. I wear long sleeves because like to keep warm and disguise my skinny arms!

Iguana scrubs last forever.

I look for comfy, semi-cheap scrubs that are solid. I've only found two brands I really love: Iguana Med and Koi

I made the mistake of buying 100% cotton scrubs that fit fine at the store, but didn't take into account the shrinkage after putting them in the dryer. I was only able to squeeze into them for a little bit before I ended up donating them to Goodwill!

While I do agree that polyester can be a bit stiff/uncomfortable when first purchased, most scrubs with 65% poly content do tend to loosen up a bit with every wash. The color stays in these longer, too. I'm all about Dickie's Everyday collection!

I have a set of poly/cotton scrubs that my daughter got me for my birthday 10 years ago. If you didn't look at the frayed and unreadable tag at the neck, you'd never know they were that old. They look almost new, and I've been wearing them regularly since I got them. (The miracle is that they still fit...)

I make my own, so I can have it all, but I MUST have a button up top. I just do not want to take whatever might get splashed onto my clothes going up and over my face and head.
