Specializes in Critical Care, Clinical Documentation Specialist.

Pre-nursing: Algebra. Hadn't taken it in 20 years and somehow I placed into it. I pulled off an A, barely.

Nursing: Public Health. I'm a process person, so can work my way through patho and disease processes. PH had so much straight memorization (I weakness of mine) that I was miserable. Got my first B in that class.

Specializes in Trauma.

The hardest class emotionally for me was a Sociology class. My professor was a screaming liberal and I would leave ****** off after every class. He would explain why affirmative action was still needed, because 150 years ago somebody's relative didn't have access to education, therefore they deserved to be hired based mostly on skin color rather than ability. Reverse discrimination was a myth. It was the white peoples responsibility to make sure the evils of the past were not forgotten because slavery could be a few years away again. In a court of law the black people should not be judged by laws that were written by whites.

I sat in the front of the class and would argue with him almost on a weekly basis. The semester before I took his class I had to write a paper in my Ethics class and my paper was on black slave owners prior to the Civil War. I asked what he thought about two different people. He didn't know who I was talking about. I told him they were two of the largest slave owners, one in Luisiana and the other in South Carolina, and both of them owned in excess of 200 slaves and both were freed slaves themselves. His excuse was they were only doing what they knew to do. I asked if that could not also be said for the white slave owners, not to mention a very small percentage of the white population actually owned slaves, most whites were also poor. At the end of class each day I was mad at him and he was mad at me. I ended up with a C in that class. My first C I ever got in college.

Organic chem. what helped was that I had a great teacher.

Specializes in FNP, ONP.

I thought organic chemistry was my most challenging course as an undergrad, but I still got an A. My health care finance course was my most challenging course in graduate school. I do NOT know how anyone could possibly stomach accounting or finance for a major, much less for a living. Finance is the only A- I ever got, and I had to fight for it tooth and nail, and narrowly missed a B+ by about a 1/100th of a point. It was brutal, I hated it with a white hot passion, and I cursed it daily. I also apply principles that I learned from it daily (grumble), and I use OChem about never, lol. ;)

Specializes in Cardiac, ICU.

Pre-nursing - Communications. Still working on my therapeutic communication as we speak.

Nursing - BSN program I am in consists of a Community/OB semester. No desire whatsoever to work in either of these fields. It made it very challenging to force myself to study and stay motivated. I managed to survive. I would also have to add the Evidence Based Practice class. I'm not a research guru, not even close.

One more semester!

Specializes in ER.

So far, it was Med-surg 2. The instructor was awful. She wouldn't tell us which chapters to read, and would lecture on one thing but then test us on something completely different. I barely scraped by with a B. I don't even know my percentage grade because she refused to post grades. I studied my butt off and tried to learn as much as I could, and I am grateful I survived it.

Specializes in Internal Medicine.

Chemistry was the worst semester of my freaking life! That's actually why I chose to just get my ADN instead of BSN because I didn't want to take another semester of chem it was absolutely horrible!

Specializes in Psych, LTC/SNF, Rehab, Corrections.

Pharmacology. The class wasn't hard. The instructor just sucked. Instead of teaching us to learn by grouping, body system and prefix/suffixes? She had us learning one med at a time and just lectured out of the book. She tested on obscure meds in the book that had little to do with NCLEX, the classes or what's commonly used in the field.

She wasn't trying to teach. She was trying to trip us up and weed us out.

Some classmates would ask her questions in class? She didn't know the answer. Well, if all she wanted to do was read from the book...why not just make Pharm an online class and save us the gas money?

She sucked.

I also took Pharm with Medsurg. That was pure hell.

Organic Chemistry was rough as some have stated. I'll agree.

I took Statistics (AP) in highschool. I still have nightmres.
