Hello Everyone!
I am about to pull my hair out. Just found out that we do not have enough teachers so therefore cannot get into the nursing program until next August 2003. I was suppose January 2003. Looks like we are going to have to relocate at the end of Fall semester 2002 in order for me to get into a nursing program somewhere in January 2003. Talking about stressed out!!!! I am screaming. My husband said everything is going to be okay but I am just sick, because I was not expecting this all of a sudden. Oh well, I have been surfing the web and trying to find a school but the tutition is outrageous. For out-of-state residents. I have been looking for schools in my state but we really wanted to move where there are a lot of job opportunities. I am originally from Texas so I am not familiar with too many places down south. If you all were in my shoes what would you do?
Thanks Everyone For Letting Me Vent!

If moving close to Athens, I would definetly try Athens Tech. They have the best ADN program in this area.
i don't know what part of town you were in, but there are some very nice areas here and bad areas too just like any other places in this world. i moved here 2 years ago and for the most part i like it. i do pray all works out for you and your family.originally posted by shundamygirlfriend is moving back to birmingham and going to uab or jeff state community college. my two friends love birmingham. but let me tell you something funny. we went to b'ham 3 weeks ago and it was horrible. we were in downtown b'ham. my friend said we were in the worst part of b'ham. lol. we did not have a clue. downtown look like a ghost town. i was thinking on my gosh. she said we should have went down 280. i do not know but she told me to erase every bad thing we saw about b'ham until she can take me and show me around. i tell you the truth. we did go by one nice area and that was mountain brook but other than that i was not impressed. yes i am talking about a good job market for my husband. i can get me a part time in the medical field. he is a sanatation supervisor for plant. so i am going to try and go to b'ham one more time and see what it is really like. we must have been in a really rough area for her to say we were blessed to come out alive!!! lol. god watches over us all.

I know Georgia Perimeter College is the cheapest in Atlanta. I was able to get through school without many loans. The most i paid in tuition was 540 dollars. I am an instate student but from what I understand the tuition is still cheap. Give them a try. I know Emory is way expensive that is why I did not attend there. You can easily bridge rn to BSN or even RN to MSN at Emory. Best wishes. Also try going to the NSNA web site for other colleges. I am unsure of the website I believe it is nsnsa.org. Good Luck

Thank you very much for the list of all those colleges. I have been really researching the web trying to find various schools that are affordable. I know that I am going to have to pay some money but I do not want to be paying back for the rest of my life.
Thanks A Million Everyone!!!

One of the schools on that list is no good. Oakwood College located in Huntsville, AL. They're program is still new and the get large number of students enrolled, but only put out 1/4 or so. My class was pretty much small (11) and only 5 walked away w/ a degree. So more than half the class (including myself) did not obtain a degree in nursing b/c we were not able to pass the exit exam in limited number of tries. We are good students, but when it came to the exit exam, we were not able to succeed. We were not exposed to the exit exam format and reviews like we should've been. So just a lil heads up, avoid Oakwood College (now Oakwood University) if you can. Thanx
