What you had to give up for NS

Published

I know you guys have stories of what you had to give up for NS. Im curious to know.:twocents: Please share your stories. My family thinks Im crazy. My dad told me today that something is wrong with me because of my hunger for nursing:confused: (imagine that) Nothing will stop me, not even family:D. That's why it's my dream. :p

My entire life, except for the parts required for school.

My thoughts, exactly!

Specializes in Emergency Dept. Trauma. Pediatrics.

some of my free time, more involvement with my kids school, and this semester I can't watch near as many movies and shows that I used too and am not as stress free as I had been and almost went crazy a few days ago LOL

Also had to go into some debt to get SL to pay for daycare.

Other then that I haven't given anything up, but I have gained some good things. :)

1. SLEEP -always feel tired & as though I have to set the alarm a little earlier to get in that study time.

2. TIME WITH MY HUSBAND -I miss him, but he is my biggest support.

3. Did I mention sleep? LOL

**It will all be worth it** :p

*My job-part time for now, but have to quit soon, not the job I care about, but I need the money, thus I will be trying to live off of student loans

*Spending time with my kids.

*Spending time with my husband

*I agree with the others on "my sanity"!

*Any amount of free time

*Enjoying life

*Watching TV

*Weekends

*Cleaning my house or my car, just have to get used to living a little more messy than you did before, no time for cleaning, husband helps but it's not the same

*I'm sure there's more, but this will do!

A social life

I was already broke, so nursing school didn't change that much.

Specializes in ED.

1. Time with my daughter

2. job = income

3. being able to just buy stuff for fun; I love taking my daughter out and buying her things. I just makes me feel good.

4. down time

5. time with family.

6. cleaning, chores, etc. I did hire a housekeeper which has saved my sanity and I can justify that expense because I quit getting my nails done and I don't get my hair done as often as I used to.

7. and probably one of the most missed - SPONTANEITY! I really miss just packing a bag on a Friday afternoon for a little weekend getaway. I cannot wait to get back to that!

My program is just 2 years and I'm already a year into it. I know I will do all of those things again and it is going to be worth it but sometimes it is hard. I just have 14 months to go!
