If you know her taste in bags, maybe a work bag... but that's kind of personal and people are picky.
I think a gift certificate would probably be perfect, so she can pick out her things.
Or, maybe a good sized lunch bag? I know I load mine down, it could be bigger. Sure there's vending machines and such but it's convenient to have 3 bottled drinks and a frozen dinner, some snacks and such already within arm's reach for those really busy shifts.
I think a membership to allnurses.com would make a great gift......great advice, boundless encouragement, wonderful mentors.........it is everything a new nurse needs! But I did not get one! So the best gift I did get was two pairs of Dansko shoes, a great pair of shoes is a must!

What graduation gift? LOL, never got any!
But when I finally went to ICU, my SO at the time gifted me mith my Littman Master Cardiology scope and had it personalized. That has been 9 years and I actually still have it. I know it had been "borrowed" several times, but whoever picked it up saw the engraving and set it back down.
However that is a very expensive gift. You could purchase another Littman for her. Depending on where she's going to work, you could get the appropriate scope for that area (peds, neonatal, etc.). If she's going to an ICU, FastFacts is a great reference and would make an excellent gift.
If she enjoys the net, I would concur that a membership here would be an excellent idea.
The most treasured gift (s) that I got were 1) a gold chain with RN on it and 2) a gold chain with a dainty little cross that has a small diamond on it. I combined the two on one chain and they never leave my neck. Both of these have such sentimental value for me and the one's who gave them were there with me supporting me all the way!!
Thank you all for the wonderful ideas! She does already have a very nice Litman stethoscope because our school strongly 'encourages' us to get one before starting the program. Plus, in the intenvisver care nursery (where she'll be working and I too hopefully someday) each baby has their own stethoscope at the bedside so nurses don't bring their own in. However, a VERY good idea and I may use it for another nursing graduate someday who may not have one. I love your ideas and I've shared them with others too. Thank you so much for taking the time to write!

Hi all. I'm a first semester ASN nursing student, however a friend of mine is graduating next week and I'm trying to figure out what to get her. I know she needs scrubs and I am going to get her a gift certificate to a uniform store, but I want a little something more for her. Any ideas???
