What to expect in an open house?

You should dress to impress (business casual or professional attire), bring a copy of your resume/cover letter and, and treat this event as if an on-the-spot interview might arise.

I went to an open house one time. All of us were brought into a conference room where we heard presentations about the company and we had an open session where those who wanted to filled out employment applications. Bring copies of your resume, a paper with all of your employment info (list of employment places with addresses, phone numbers, names of supervisors, rates of pay, your references' contact info, etc.), your driver's license, SS card, CPR card, your nursing license, a copy of your malpractice insurance face sheet (some require proof of insurance), your car insurance (some require), a copy of your last PPD, a copy of your last employment physical if you have it and it is within the past year. Dress in business attire and be prepared to be interviewed on the spot. Good luck.

Basically, treat it like an interview. Dress business casual at the minimum. Have plenty of copies of your resume and references; also bring your license information and certifications (if any). Talk to every recruiter/representative you possibly can, even the units you're not interested in--remember, you're trying to get your foot in the door period, not necessarily land the dream job. And don't let yourself get discouraged by the number of other new grads you will see there. Be confident!
