Just got hired at a cardiology office. Just wondering if it is typical for offices to be closed the Friday after thanksgiving and any other days that are not holidays like that. Thanks

Any specialty or primary care office that I worked for or with was open on those non-holidays.

Our office is closed the day after Thanksgiving. Interestingly, it is open on Christmas Eve, and I will be very curious as to how many appointments and/or no-shows there will be (I work at an OB/Gyn office with a 25% no-show rate). This will be my first holiday season working at an ambulatory clinic.

The outpatient center I work in is only closed on the actual holidays. Some of the doctors are canceling their clinics on the other days like Christmas Eve but clinic staff is still required to report.

Each one is different, but ours is M-F (close at noon on Fridays) and closed the typical two days at Thanksgiving, closed Christmas (half-day on Christmas eve), closed New Year's Day and half-day on New Year's Eve, closed Monday for Labor and Memorial Day, and Fourth of July.

I work in a primary care practice, we will be open the day after Thanksgiving, but we also do walk-in Saturdays, so, it's no surprise.

I think it depends on your facility. I work in private practice and it up to the physicians/owners to decide if they want the clinic to be open on those holidays before or after a big holiday. We are closed the day after thanksgiving, and closed Christmas eve and Christmas day. but open regular hours on new years eve, and closed new years day.

I would guess that one deciding factor may be if the cath lab is open on those days.
