I'm a Crocs addict. In fact, I wear a pair almost everyday. My nursing school will not allow Crocs so I have to find something different. I don't want granny-like white shoes. I want the cool-dude shoes.
So tell me, what are they?
Doc Marten's! 1461 style. They take a week or two to break in, and then they're GREAT! Heel: bend toward inside of shoe to break in, shoe: bend where foot bends. If they're a bit big (only whole sizes) add an insert and I'm telling you, these will last forever! I've had mine for three years and they're still going strong! (Yes, full time..)
Here's a bunch of white nursing shoes!
I think I am going to get a pair of these MBT's:http://www.walkerswarehouse.com/store/product.asp?Product_Code=WM-7024&Category_Code=brand_wm
They are really expensive and look kind of dorky, however, they are supposed to be excellent for your feet, knees, and back, while also giving your legs and core a workout! I figure that I won't have much time at all to work out once I start school, so I'll take my exercise where I can get it.
They don't have that particular style at Zappos.com, but they do have lots of consumer reviews of other styles, and people seem to really love them.
I used to work in a rehabilitation hospital and all the nurses wore MBT's and they all swore by them too. They said it helps tremendously with posture and keeps the weight of your body centered over your feet. They didnt say anything about giving your legs a workout, the walking around in the hospital will do that for you. I'm considering them myself but I will need a couple paychecks first!
I wear Nike shox that are all leather through out my clinical which ended in September. They have alot of support and and comfortable and easy to clean. I brought mine for about $80 at footlocker last october. I actually have several pairs of shox in different colors love each one. I got a suggestion to use scetchers, i was not too crazy about the fit and I thought that they were a heavy shoe. I am not crazy about the crocs either because they have no support, its like wearing a slipper to work. Plus if you have holes in them stuff gets in them or if you dont have holes then your feet sweat making it uncomfortable. I am sorry but after a while crocs just have a smell to them even if you wash them several times. I think that you basically have to have perfect posture and skinny to be comfortable in crocs for long periods of time. I will stick to my nike shox, yes they are expensive, but easy to clean.
