Just out of curiousity what color scrubs do nurses wear on your units? I didn't know where else to post this and I am just posting it for fun. In my city nurses mostly wear navy blue all the hospitals standardized the color nurses wear. One hospital however wears maroon/wine. Also nurses have the option to wear all white. Anyone have an opinion of what color best represents nursing as a profession?
We are the only dept that is not colored coded. I have no idea why. We are also the only med/surg floor in a organization of 5 hospitals that isn't color coded. Everywhere else it's navy blue for RN.
I personally stick to solid colors and a coordinating top underneath. My favorite is a pr of black scrubs with a hot pink tie dyed looking shirt under. I get a lot of compliments on it.
Like someone else said, I no longer buy cheap scrubs. I love Koi and am a huge fan.
I find it interesting that in nursing school we were drilled that we are "professionals"....but now we all have to wear dark blue (thus blue-colored workers)....I think we should all go back to white...and for women, dressess and white tights.....and white shoes....then the patients would KNOW when they were dealing with a REAL NURSE.....not a houskeeper, not a tech...etc. I am personally very tired of hearing my patients state "when I talked to the other nurse".....when they really are talking about the unlicensced personel.
...and for women, dressess and white tights.....and white shoes....
Yeah, that doesn't work for me. A dress and tights would be so uncomfortable.
Our hospital is slowly moving towards departments being color coded. MRI/CT wears maroon, pharmacy wears hunter green, and (since yesterday) the techs wear teal. Nurses can wear whatever they want and I love it! I wear mostly solids, but I like picking the color and if I want print. I do like knowing who is who in the hallway but I don't think patients have any idea there's a difference. Wear a badge and introduce yourself, your patient will know who the nurse is.

I work on Women's Surgery floor which is part of mother/baby. This whole floor wears Squad blue/turquoise and can mix and match white and aqua. The other floors wear a royal blue.
