  1. I wake up after work frequently thinking I'm still at the hospital. I also hear call lights and heart monitor beeps in my sleep.
  2. We had two cadavers. In fact if you did not mind staying after class my anatomy professor would allow students to help dissect the new cadavers. Although I think they are a great learning tool I never volunteered to stay after and help . We also used them for exams, our professor would tag different anatomical parts and we would need to identify them.
  3. ASN - 21 BSN - will be 24
  4. I started out with the Littmann Classic II in nursing school but decided to upgrade to the Littmann Cardiology III and the acoustics are much better.
  5. I'm in too! One of my last classes, can't wait to be done.
  6. My most recent embarrassing moment happened shortly after I got off orientation. We aren't supposed to store beds in the hall but someone left one right near the med room door. So here I come almost running out of the med room and slam my hip into the headboard of said poorly placed bed. Not only did my charge nurse come running around the corner to find me but a patients family member ran down the hall to tell me "man that looked like it really hurt". All I could say was I was tired.
  7. A have a wrist tattoo and many other "visible" ones. I work for a larger hospital network and policy is that tattoos are to be covered unless covering it would lead to infection control issues. So a few of mine show when my sleeves are rolled up and I've never had any complaints. I also always wear long sleeves to interviews so potential employers never see my body art. Make sure it's something you really want and do what makes you happy.
  8. I have the 15" pro w/ retina display and I love it however I use it a lot for photo editing. I think the air would be perfect for nursing school because it's a good quality computer fully capable of doing what most students need but light and compact. My mac doesn't have a disc drive either but they make a USB disc drive, I have maybe used it 5 times.

  10. I hope to finish my BSN this year and finally move on to my MSN. Happy New Year!
  11. Cardiac advanced care (step down) 4-5:1 for days and nights.
  12. We have a 6 week "template" that you fill out as a new hire and that is what you always work except for scheduled Holidays. I love this because I know exactly when I work for future activities/vacations and I scheduled mine so I get 8 days off every 6 weeks.
  13. RNs wear navy, PCTs wear tan, radiology etc. wine, and transport black. Undershirts and shoes have to be black, white, or the same color as your uniform. I like this because it makes it a lot easier for patients/families to identify staff.
  14. When I took my NCLEX in July 2012 one of the monitors actually had to look at my tattoos to make sure I did not write anything in them. I guess somebody had to have done it before .
  15. I have a half-sleeve, some scattered arm tattoos, leg and back pieces, and a few others scattered about. Even though I'm very proud of my artwork I prefer to keep it covered at work, not because it looks "professional" but because I want the focus to be on my patients and not my tattoos.
