  1. I am in lifespan now and I find the course extremely educational and fulfilling. We are spending the last couple of weeks discussing death and dying, and I feel like I've grown emotionally. I am certain my development with the subject will help me be a better nurse!
  2. Hello, I received a letter yesterday indicating that I met their requirements and I was moved to the next stage of the process. The next step entails submission of TEAS V scores. They are going to offer the TEAS V in early May. I've already taken the TEAS, so I need to submit my score. I have a close friend who graduated from the program in 2012. She said the program was grueling; however, she pulled it off and is happily working as an RN.
  3. I wouldn't put too much stock into the new test. For all you know, the newer test may be more complex. I'm imagining more algebra and word problems. I guess we will hear more about it in the future. I did excellent in math and science; however, I'm curious to know if they will reign in science. It's a bit all over the place with a smaller emphasis on anatomy/physiology. My rough spot was reading comprehension, so I'd like to know how that section may or may not change. We will see!
  4. I am getting ready to take my teas v and I can see how I was helped tremendously by my stats course. You will learn which graph is relevant to the data you wish to present. Second, you learn how to truly interpret/analyze graphs/numbers based on given parameters (this is not as easy as it sounds). Also, the scientific method requires that one use quantitative data to support their hypothesis. If actual mathematics was not used (in the form of statistics), our scientific descriptions would simply be qualitative in nature. How would we advance as a people without real data? You will learn so much more from your statistics course; however, I just thought I'd provide with a description of how the class will help you in the very near future as you prepare for teas v.
  5. I think your passage about Keshwani is persuasive in nature! Seriously, I love the guy. I first heard about him here and decided to give him a shot. At first, I thought I wouldn't be able to endure the guy for 50+ days; however, the strangest thing happened. To my pure astonishment, I found myself looking forward to his videos day in and day out. He is a freakin (his words) character. Anyway, I just want you to know how much I agree with you. Keshwani for president! I will join you in campaigning for him. To anyone else afraid of math, please look him up on youtube. He works out of the teas v handbook and walks you through every page in the math section. Also, congrats on your stupendous score! I am due to take my teas soon, and I'm finally feeling like I can tackle the test. I've been so fearful and had to dig as deep as I could emotionally to muster up the courage. Now, I am ready to put it behind me. I am happy to hear you mention that the real exam is easier than the on-line practice tests. They truly killed my confidence. I've since tightened up areas of improvement and will continue to do so for the next week. Go Keshwani!
  6. I did not find anatomy easy; however, it wasn't unbearable. It is heavy on memorization, so if you are great at that, it may feel easier. My physiology class by far was the most difficult. I considered physio my thinking class; Simply memorizing facts does not work (at least not at my school). I understand you may be concerned they aren't properly preparing you, but maybe memorization is just something that comes easily to you!
  7. I took my first online exam a couple of weeks ago and was nowhere near where I want to be. I have heard from most people here that the online test is more difficult than the actual exam; however, I don't want to take any chances. I am continuing to study and will take my second on-line exam in about 1 week. I would highly suggest jredo2617 consider the online practice tests. I wasted a good couple of minutes acclimating myself to the online test, and from what I've heard in terms of computer technicalities, it is pretty much the same.
  8. Of course, you have a chance! If you want this, keep your foot on the gas pedal and try your hardest to pull out A's. I was a returning student in 2012 with a non-science GPA in the mid 2's. When it was all said and done, I finished my last semester with a 4.0 in my science courses and a 3.91 overall. I assessed what I did wrong when I was a student long ago and made the necessary changes. I wanted (and still do) to be a nurse so badly, and I wasn't going to allow anything to stand in If you want this, you can do it too! Good luck!
  9. Of course there is a *weed out* taking place; however, there isn't a conspiracy going on. Simply put, the professors are saying the rigors of the science(s) weed out students. It is one thing to say you want to be a nurse and a different thing to walk out the journey. Students step into their science courses unprepared for the level of commitment they must invest. The journey of becoming a nurse is grueling, as it should be; everyone is not meant to be a nurse. As far as school being easier *back then* as opposed to now. There is absolutely NO WAY I would have been able to go back to school 20+ years ago. The internet has made it possible for me to stay home, study and take care of my family. There was no khanacademy or any of the other countless resources available to my fingertips. My hat goes off to anyone who obtained their nursing degree prior to the internet!
  10. I am due to take my TEAS in a couple of weeks. I have been studying for over a month, and I have also taken chem. Based on the ATI handbook I would say that the chem portion is front end concepts. Meaning, you will not need to go through an entire semester to understand chemistry on the TEAS. Most of what I've read in the manual (ionization, bonds, balancing equations) is covered during the first several weeks of a chem class. However, do not underestimate chemistry, because it can be a tad difficult to grasp at first. Go to youtube and search for anything you do not understand and then make sure you can apply the concepts. The good news is that I've heard there aren't a ton of chemistry questions, although there are different versions of the test, so you never know what you are going to get. Good luck!
  11. I never missed a single one of my science courses. Two weeks is a long time! Have you considered going to Disney over summer? If that doesn't work, I would NOT miss two weeks of class and then spend a majority of your vacation studying. Let's face it, you probably will be too distracted and once you return, you will pay the price. As the saying goes, if you want to play, you've got to pay. Also, keep in mind that summer classes can be grueling. You literally will eat, sleep and breathe A&P for six solid weeks and that may be tough with 3 kids. If it were me, I would postpone the vacay until summer! Take care and good luck!
  12. Awesome score Bohrdom! Thank you SO much for the advice!
  13. Hello again! I am studying like crazy. I want to let you know how much I LOVE Keshwani. How freakin (his word) funny is he? I had zero clues that I would grow to enjoy his videos so much. I worked on each video for about 30 days. I can't recommend him enough to others afraid of math. Lifesaver! Back to studying, I go. EDIT: SORRY!! I just re-read the thread and I already responded!! I am losing it, I tell ya!
  14. Hello, sadieb95 Thank you for the feedback! By the way, I LOVE Keshwani. I am finally at my last two videos. At first, I didn't think I would like him much, however, I am SO happy I gave him a shot. He is hilarious. I found myself looking forward to his videos each day. I also learned some super quick and easy tips with multiplying decimals quickly. He is amazing. Do you remember work rate questions on your test? For example, Jim can paint a room in 1 hour and Sally can paint a room in two hours, how fast can they paint the room if they work together? Also, did you have a math question involving probability? For example, what is the probability of rolling certain number, or picking up a certain marble, etc.? THANK YOU!
