I am taking the TEAS V exam this month. Let it be known, I am not great at mental math. I have a A average in all of my math lectures in school due to the fact that they allow calculators. So, when I learned that the TEAS V exam does not allow a calculator, I became disheartened. I have been studying for the Math section every day since I learned that. Now, to my dismay, I learn (via the ATI TEAS website) that there is a new version of the TEAS arriving August 31, 2016 which will allow a calculator. I am not going to lie, this really angers me. I have been studying so hard for this exam and have paid a lot of money so I can get a decent grade. Then they decide to allow a calculator after my exam date. To anyone else who is not a good standardized test taker and who needs every trick up their sleeve to earn a decent grade on one, you can sympathize. I am just one person out of many, trying to get into nursing school, but this really grinds my gears. Timing is everything, I guess, and I chose my time to take the TEAS exam, poorly. Wish I would have known they were updating the exam to include the use of calculators before I spent a large exam fee on the TEAS-V.
