What color are your scrubs?

In FL & GA most RNs now wear royal blue. Is that the case everywhere?

Specializes in OR/PACU/med surg/LTC.

Small hospital in Canada. We can wear any colour/print that we want. My LTC residents loved my orange scrubs pants :)

Specializes in Telemetry.

Our RN's are color coded by department. Tele units wear Caribbean Blue tops and bottoms, with the option of white tops/bottoms/jackets. Med/Surg is all white, ER, ICU and our CDU wear Navy. Our CNA's are black tops, khaki bottoms. LPN's wear the same colors as RN's. Every other department (respiratory, dietary, housekeeping etc.) have their own colors. The only thing I wish would change, is that we could wear print tops/jackets, some of them are really cute!!!

I don't really understand the need to give different floors a different colour.

This is exactly what I'm looking for...out healthcare system is going to color code across the board (except of course management) and I don't see the rationale. It upsets me with the amount of money they waste (there is a rumor we will be reimbursed part) when they could be putting it into education or something more beneficial to patient care!

RNs wear royal blue. I don't mind it,

I like the color and it eliminates the what do I wear today ordeal. This is in vegas. Not all hospitals have standard colors though, some still do the wear whatever thing.

Specializes in Neonatal Nurse Practitioner.

Each unit has its own dress code. In my unit we wear any top, print or solid, as long as it coordinates with the bottoms. Our bottoms must be royal, black, eggplant, or brown. Almost anything works with black bottoms.

They used to wear solid royal, but management's rounds determined that the patients didn't really care what the nurses wear.

Specializes in Psychiatric and emergency nursing.

Navy blue for RN's, hunter green for LPN's, paramedics, and EMT's, black for transporters and monitor techs, purple for the birthing center, khaki for environmental, and I'm not sure about the other ancillary departments. Our scrubs are supposed to be absolutely solid with no contrast stitching, because apparently my CPR is affected by contrast stitching o_O. I can get away with a little more since I'm a night shifter, though. I work in a fairly busy ED just outside of Knoxville, TN.
